After using the site pretty extensively over the past week, I'd like to provide some feedback since I really think this community has A LOT of potential. I am a professional web developer and run my own web firm so this may extend from some of my experience over the past ten years in online marketing and web development. I don't anticipate getting too technical, but I do hope you'll take this as positive feedback. This is coming from the perspective of a male user on the site. I have yet to pay for a membership, although I intend to shortly.
1) Having browsed literally every state in the search over the past week, it's pretty clear that about 95% of the users (females/SBs) create a profile and typically do not return... at least for an extended period of time. It would be nice to see an incentive for users to return more frequently. As a suggestion; maybe being able to accumulate points/rewards/whatever to redeem for a monthly or quarterly membership based on how much time the user spends on the site, whether it be via timed sessions (kind of a pain to program) or just logging when a user logs in via the database (very easy to program).
2) Maybe it's better for a paid user, but the free (advanced search) doesn't even let you search via zipcode (yes I know the quick search does... but why isn't the zip code offered in the advanced search as well). It also only lets you search by state, which is pretty inaccurate when many of your major cities cover multiple states when you consider what's near a metropolitan area. When using the "asking" filter in the advanced search it will always return no results unless you leave it set to "all". Regardless, the search, albeit a good start, needs an overhaul to be more user-friendly.
3) In "My Favorites", please allow me to list all of them on one page... I really don't like clicking from page to page to page. At least allow me to opt to list more favorites per page... like 10 or 20.
I think that's it for now. Overall I love the site. It's clean, I love the mail system (don't change it) and the cautious attention made to protect the individual's privacy as opposed to other personals websites. In particular, I love the fact that it seems most of the profiles seem to be real people, so whatever your approval process is to filter out the garbage, it's working.
