Getting tickets to the freshers week if you're an international student...

If you are an international student, how do you get your tickets for the fresher's week before the current students are allowed to buy them?

  • We you should be able to get them when you go to Southampton.
If you're an international student then aren't you there a week before non-international students?
If so then you will be likely to get them a week before non-international!

If it's not possible to buy them online then they can only be brought once you go there and since you will be there before others, you should be able to get them first.
When I was a fresher a couple of years ago, you brought tickets on like the first day you went.

  • Is that so?
I'm an EU student but I won't be arriving till about the 24th September. Do international students actually have to arrive way before then? I think I'm missing something...
Also, if not, then how else would you propose us to buy these tickets?

  • Well the general move in day is the 25th / 26th so you will arrive there before everyone else.
I don't know what the recommended thing is but I remember a couple of years ago international people were there a week earlier .
Back to the important bit, if you arrive on the 24th, then you'll be there to buy the tickets before everyone else.
Also, I'm not sure if the tickets go on sale on line on September 6th, if they do then you will be able to purchase it on there.
It might be possible to just reserve a ticket and collect it when you get there.
That would be the sensible thing for them to do anyway...

Tickets will be available on-line to freshers from 6th September. You can buy them using a credit or debit card, and then you collect them when you arrive. You may also be able to print your own tickets - we are still looking into it. Hope this helps.

You'll get an e-mail before then telling you how to get hold of them, so don't worry.

  • You will be able to buy your tickets online from tomorrow (Monday 6th September) at 10am. Also, International Freshers' Week begins on Monday 20th September, a week before the UK Freshers' Arrive. You can call the Universitys accomodation hotline on Accommodation Hotline on +44 (0)23 8059 5959 and they should be able to clarify any questions you have about moving in.
