I’m frustrated

Scorecard was zeroed out twice today

Scorecard feature intermittent today. Twice I found all 0's on my scorecard, and it was non-editable. I killed the round, started a new round, and recreated the round. First time it happened, I thought "fluke." Second time, I thought it was annoying. I've played over 5 rounds I think previously with no issues. Was there a problem today? Anyone else have the issue? User error?!

  • Hi Randy,

    Sorry about this.

I have not heard of any other problems like this going on, but that does not mean it didn't happen.

What version of the app do you have? This can be found by clicking the SbS icon within the course search page.

Also, what course were you playing on?

    Thanks,
    Craig

    I’m happier today
    Hi Craig.
    Version 3.0.256.
It happened yesterday in my cursed round. We teed off around 10am EST at Twin Lakes (Lakes Course) in Clifton, VA. I tracked the first 5 holes like usual... then was unable to enter the score on about the 6th hole. No problem, I thought...I just restarted the round after discarding. Then after the turn, it happened again. Both times, I just started a new round and used the scorecard to enter previous holes. The system would catch up to where I was and work just fine from then on.

I wasn't tracking club data, because I was hitting such crummy shots anyway! But if I can get my game going again, I'll be tracking clubs and I won't want to restart a round once it's in progress. I see there's a function for submitting just the club tracker data, so maybe I'd do that if the scorecard ever does that again.

Sounds like it might have just been me!
    • Hi Randal,

Thanks for getting back to me.

It sounds like you are getting it figured out. Be sure that you don't start a brand new round when there is a "(1)" on the Round tab from within the home screen of the app.

This means that you have a round already open. Make sure you only have one round open at a time.

If you have any problems in the future please let me know.

      Thanks,
      Craig

  • I had a round on July 6th "zero out" on me again. I don't think there's anything I'm doing wrong. About 4 holes into the round, I couldn't enter any data. Every hole showed "0" and nothing was editable in the Scorecard. I started a new round and entered info again. Worked fine for the remainder of the round.

Maybe I reinstall the app? That's twice in a row the scorecard hasn't worked right for me, and it had worked at least 8 times before that. I don't think I've gotten worse at using the app! It's pretty simple, and I still love it.

    • Hi Craig,
No, I played today there, but I couldn't bring the course up using the app. That round was submitted manually on computer later.

I played a Par 3 course called "Sterling Park Golf" in Sterling, VA on July 13 (not the 6th, as I said above). I think it happened on the 5th green. Wouldn't let me enter scores using the scorecard. I was not doing club tracking. Just using the scorecard feature only, because the GPS signal was weak.

I seem to be the only one with this issue, so I guess it's related to just me. I'll do complete reinstall on my phone. I also have not upgraded to os5 on my iPhone. Too lazy, and I've heard the new OS has battery problems. Probably not a configuration you would test for. I guess I'll take the plunge and upgrade/reinstall so I've got the latest/greatest of all software.
    • Hi Randy,

The course seems to be set up properly.

I would imagine updating your OS and re-installing SbS may eliminate this issue for you.

Let me know if you find otherwise,
      Craig

    I’m confident
To close the loop on this one, I've upgrade my 3GS phone to the latest iOs, plus ensured I have latest SbS version. No issues for my last two rounds.

GPS looking solid- only two shots for yesterday's round were wacky. One reflected 9000000 yards or something. One showed that a drive I hit down the center was left in the rough. But other than that, it all looked perfect. Scorecard feature went perfectly. App didn't crash once.

Before the round, I killed all other apps (double-clicked home button, and forcibly killed them from memory in the tray that shows up at bottom). Then restarted phone, only opening SbS. In the past, I've found rounds go smoothest after full phone reset, so I try to do that each time.
    • Randy,

Thanks for the update here. Sounds like it's smooth sailing from here.

Congratulations on that 9000000 yard drive. It's amazing to see how Swing by Swing and truly improve your game.... ;)

That shot sounds like you may have just forgot to click End on the Club Tracker. You may already know how to delete this from your stats on line, but if not let me know and I would be happy to show you.

Doing a full phone reset like you do is a great idea. This resets your phones GPS and should give great results when using the app on the course.

      Cheers,
      Craig
