(No update available) Hipstamatic Disposable fails to let me share cameras with friends!!

Ok-several problems--I can invite people to cameras successfully, so far. However, if they invite me, I never et an email or a notification. Like ever, At all. My husband and I have tried over and over and I do not even shw up as a disposable user! I am listed as "someone" (as are many others) under his 'hipsta' users. My husband continued on to the "invite facebook friends" option and invited me to his camera that way. The email acts like I do not have the app, and does not allow me to connect to his camera. Earlier today, I deleted the app, reinstalled it, and hoped the problem was solved. Obviously, it isnt. I bought several in-app cameras and do not want to lose them. I was also charged for the black keys camera TWICE and did not recieve either of the cameras (2 @ .99)-I tried several times to download them, but I can not. I ended up buying ANOTHER set. Ugh. I have been talking this app up, inviting friends, etc...I REALLY hope they are getting these kinks worked out because it is a big bummer. :(

I saw your note in another thread and replied there first. Here is a copy of my reply:

To start at the end of your note... yes, many of these kinks are being worked out. I apologize for the frustration you're having. The app is still new, but as it matures these bugs will be sorted out.

One thing you can both check with regard to the invitations not showing up, is to make sure that you each have Push Notifications turned on for Disposable. Let me know if that makes any difference?

The issue with being listed as 'Someone' is one that I'm still trying to get more information about.

The problem with restoring your purchases is a known issue at this time. The current release does have problems restoring some of the consumable paks, but this issue should be addressed soon.

Hi,

I have the exact same problem, but I was wondering if it had something to do having the original Hipstamatic installed previously. My gut tells me that the problem has something to do with that!

Can you tell me which problem you're having at your end? Is your note with regard to sharing and/or receiving invites from the app, or is your concern about restoring purchases?

I know you are responding to rabi sun, but I wanted to let y'all know that the update last week didn't change anything for me. My notifications are on. I am definitely not getting any invitations to cameras. Any clue as to why the app wrks on my husband's phone, but mine is all wonky? I bought extra cameras, so I spent some money on this app, otherwise I would probably delete it. Do you have ANY answers as to when these bugs will be worked out? Is there ANY way to get my $1.98 back or at least get my 2 black keys cameras? It seems unacceptable to just say thats a known issue and not offer any solutions.

Hi Heather,

Thanks for your note. I wasn't sure if you'd seen my previous response to your initial posting.

The last release (version 12.1) was a minor bug fix. The primary issue that update was meant to address was the fact that the app was crashing often for a lot of people.

The fixes related to sharing/notifications and to restoring purchases, were not included in version 12.1 but should be in the next release. I don't have an exact date, but it should be within the next couple of weeks. I know it's frustrating but those issues are being dealt with right now. The fixes are being tested and as noted will hopefully be available soon.

I hope that information helps? Your missing cameras are not gone forever, just on hold until the Restore fix goes in with the update.

Yes that information helps alot. I am very relieved to think I may have a working app someday. Maybe in 2 weeks?

I have to admit that my frustration derives mostly from the fact that I am in love with this idea for a camera app. I think the sharing a roll idea is so cool and I really just want to be a part of it. I wish I hadn't posted on Facebook and told all of my friends about it so soon. I think it has been anti-climatic for them and I look like an idiot--being the supportive fangirl with a totally broken app. It really looks bad for me AND hipstamatic.

I hope it gets fixed soon! I have initiated "theme" cameras with my friends (like "food pics only" or "self portraits only" etc...) and those have been alot of fun. I can't wait to play with the app even more.

Hi Heather,

The 'maybe in 2 weeks' isn't meant to be evasive, but rather to not set an unrealistic expectation. Several things can speed up/delay the release of an update like this. There is the programming itself, the testing phase, and then if all tests well the app still has to be submitted to Apple for final approval. Only Apple has control over that last part of the release process and that's why we tend not to set specific release dates, but rather give you a window during which it seems reasonable to have the update out.

Right now that window looks to be about two weeks in the future. But if I have any updates before that, I'll be sure to pass them on.

I'm glad you're enjoying the app so much. Thank you for your patience. I know it's frustrating, but the app is still new and has some obvious wrinkles that need to be ironed out. The Synthetic team is a huge fan of this app too, and they're working on making it enjoyable without some of these current frustrations. Hang in there!

Hi Allan,

The problem I'm having at my end concerns sharing. I am able to send invites and share albums with my friends (who are listed as Hipstimatic Disposable friends, I haven't tried with others), but I am listed under "Other Hipsta Friends" as "Someone" and when my friends send an invitation I never get one.

I bought Hipstamatic long before Disposable came out and made an account. I tried my friend's phone and sent an invite to myself via Facebook, but when I clicked the link it took me to the Hipstamatic app and no the Disposable one.

Love the app and its idea and best of luck finding a solution to this issue!

I apologize for being so long getting back to your thread.

I've gotten a note back from the development team in the last few days about this issue. The problem should already have been addressed, and the fix should be in the version you have now. Do you know which version you have installed at the moment?

I have the same problem as heather and it is frustrating!!!! (Even for the 4 guys inviting me all the time and now have 5 or 6 testcameras!) and I now have version 12.2.1.

I'm sorry to be delayed getting back to this issue. I was waiting to hear back from the development team.

The issue you're describing should have been fixed as of version 12, so it's odd that it's still happening. Can you tell me if any of the invites get through, or if you're receiving none at all?

@Heather - can you confirm for me which version of the app you have now? Have you had a chance to update to version 12? If you're still having this same issue, can you please let me know, in case I need to reopen the log with the development team?

the problem is still there and I didn't get any invitations. not even one! we have tried ist several times. And I downloaded the App. several times, too...

Hey Dani,

Thanks for your note and the additional info. No need to keep reinstalling the app right now, as that won't fix the current issue.

I did, however, just get a note back from one of the developers. He's going to take a look at this again and see if he can figure out why the fix isn't working as expected. Please hang in there! They're working on it. :)

Hi Heather,

I saw your note from a couple of days ago. I'm sorry it's still not working for you. I took a look back through the thread and noticed that you'd mentioned your ID shows you as 'someone' when logged in. This is something that another customer recently mentioned as well in another thread. I'm not sure if this is a coincidence or a clue, but I've passed it along to the dev team. I'm hoping it helps them track down the issue, and when I hear back I'll let you know.

Hi everyone,

Just a quick update to let you know that Hipstamatic Disposable version 15 is now available in the App store.

(@Heather - I'm hoping the update to the invitations function is going to help you, but I'm also keeping an eye on whether or not your issue is related to the 'someone' ID that you've noted previously. But do please try the update and let me know?)

Remember, there's no need to delete the current copy you have of the app!! The best and easiest way to update is to simply go to the App store app on your phone, find Disposable (by searching or check the Updates section) and let the App store install it for you by hitting the UPDATE button.

I've just done the upgrade on my own phone and it seems to be working very well. You *may* find the first time you launch after updating, that the app may sit on the opening splash screen a little longer than normal. This only happens the first time. The next time you open it, you shouldn't notice any lag.

Version 15 contains not only some bug fixes, but some great new features:

NEW FEATURES
o Reactions: Comment or leave emotions on photos
o See camera status from the camera bag
o Ability to leave/delete cameras
o D-Series is now localized in German, Spanish, French, Italian, Korean, Dutch, Portuguese, Brazilian Portuguese, Russian, Swedish, and Indonesian

ENHANCEMENTS AND BUG FIXES
o Speed enhancements in Invitations
o Fixes a bug causing photos sometimes not to appear on shared cameras
o Lots of other bug fixes and refinements

If you run into any trouble after updating, please do the following:

1) Leave the current copy you have installed. Do not delete the app. It's typically not necessary to reinstall.

2) Please do a force shut down of the app and a reboot of your phone. If you're not familiar with the app shutdown process, here's all you need to do:

- unlock your phone
- press your devices' home button to take you back to your main screen
- double click the home button, to bring up the background apps as a row of icons along the bottom of your screen
- press and hold the Hipstamatic icon until it 'jiggles'
- tap the red minus symbol to close the app (you may want to take that same opportunity to close all your background apps. It'll free up memory and you'll be amazed at how many you had running)

Once that's done, then reboot your phone as noted above.

3) Open a new thread here in the forum and report your problem. Any new issues you encounter may or may not be linked to previous problems. Regardless, it's much easier to assist you in sorting out your app problems if you open a new thread with as much detail as you can about the problem you're having, when it happens, how often it happens etc.

But as noted, I'm hopeful this update will be very effective for you, and will make this app even more fun that it was before. :)

My husband and I both did the update. I am still listed as "Someone", as well as a few other of his friends (and quite a few of my friends are listed as "someone" with their facebook profile pic next to it.) When he tries to invite me, it sends me an email that says this:

Thanks for the update. I'm sorry this is still an issue. I've forwarded your entire last note to the development team. Thank you for the detail you provided about what's happening/not happening.

I have a suspicion that the 'someone' identity is part of what's causing this problem, but I'll wait to see if the programmers can confirm that or not.

Thanks, Allen. I think the problem is related to the "someone" identity, as well. I'm assuming there is some sort of glitch with the facebook end of the app, as it shows their facebook profile pic, but lists their name as someone. So, maybe the problem is in reading someone's facebook info? It obviously has pulled up their picture, but name and email/hipsta-account is lost?

Anyway, please get this app working by 3pm today. I am attending a 4 day music fest and would like to share cameras with bands and friends. I think that is what this app was designed for and why I downloaded it and got excited about it!

I am joking, of course. I know you can't have it ready today, but man, oh, man I am disappointed that I won't be able to use this to my full advantage this weekend.

You tell those mean 'ol developers they made a very nice girl very sad. ;)

Thanks for the update. I've added your new comments to those that I passed on yesterday to the team. I would love to tell you that it'll be fixed and ready to go by 2:59 p.m. today, but I don't think I can promise that, sorry. :(

But I've specifically asked them if there is anything else I can have you check/do at your end, or any other information you and I can gather to pass on to them, in order to help them troubleshoot this issue.

This may be slightly off topic, but I was wondering if anyone was also having the following issue.

I am trying to share a camera with a friend who has the app but does not show up in my friends list at all. I show up in hers and she can invite me (we just finished a roll together), but I can't invite her.

Also, I have the "someone" listed under friends and the "invite someone via facebook" button that was there is now gone, so I have no option to try and search her out.

Any ideas?

The development team has been working on a couple of different bugs, related to the invite system. They know that some people have been having problems like yours. Those bug fixes are currently being tested, and I'm pretty sure they're hoping to have a release out soon. I don't have an exact date yet, but hang in there!

That's exactly the issue I'm having with 15.2 from April 10. The app seems to have randomly selected a subset of people I know using it and refuses to let me add any others. They can invite me to use their camera but I can't invite them.
