Hey Michaelo,

I saw your note in an older thread. Thank you for opening this note. One thing I forgot to mention in those other instructions is to make sure you restart Hipstamatic after you make the privacy change.

This seems to be a new security setting in iOS6, that affects which apps can write to your Camera Roll. These simple instructions should help you out.

1. Go to the Settings app on your phone
2. Click on "Privacy"
3. Choose the option for "Photos"
4. Find Hipstamatic and turn it "On"

Once you've done that, then do a quick restart of Hipstamatic, so that it can pickup that changed setting.

If you're not familiar with the app shutdown process, here's all you need to do:

- unlock your phone
- press your devices' home button to take you back to your main screen
- double click the home button, to bring up the background apps as a row of icons along the bottom of your screen
- press and hold the Hipstamatic icon until it 'jiggles'
- tap the red minus symbol to close the app (you may want to take that same opportunity to close all your background apps. It'll free up memory and you'll be amazed at how many you had running)
If you're not familiar with the app shutdown process, here's all you need to do:

Give that a try and let me know?

Cheers!

I am going to jump in....

I just updated to ios6 as well and face the same problem.

(I did shut down the app though)

Problem is...Hipstamatic asked me for the first time to "access my pictures"
as I did not know what this was, I said "no"!

I end up stuck...

Can't re-save pictures to the iphone library
Can't save new pix either.

It tells me "user's access denied"

Help! please! :)

for those who might end up here - this is the whole post from Allan :

(Solution here!) Can't save images to Camera Roll after updating to iOS 6

Hey there!

This a quick note for anyone who may have recently updated their iPhone/iPod/iPad to iOS6. You may find that you're getting an error or even that Hipstamatic is crashing when you try to take pictures.

Then try restarting Hipstamatic and taking a test picture.

If you try that but find you're still having trouble with Hipstamatic, you may be encountering a different or new problem. The best way for us to help you is for you to open a new thread here in the support forum. That lets us work with you one-on-one to resolve your specific issue. :)

Cheers!

hi-
for shutting down the app: i got as far as to get the hipstamatic app to "jiggle" but i see a white "x," not a red minus sign. is that the same thing?
thanks,

mare

Hey Mare,

Not quite the same thing! ;)

You don't want to tap on the white 'X' as that will delete the app completely.

The shut down process starts by double clicking your home button first. That should reveal the row of active icons along the bottom. It's only then that you press/hold on Hipstamatic. And when you do that along the bottom, you'll see the red 'minus' and the jiggling start as shown here:

Then, as described, you can tap the red minus signs to safely close your apps. Remember, the 'X' will delete an app, but the 'minus' sign will safely close them down, just as you'd close a program on your computer or laptop.

Let me know if that helps?

Cheers!

hi allan-
thank you *so very much* - i get it now (and the x looked fightfully permanent to me ;-)!!! ).

and now my photos are loading into camera roll...

but, of course, i still have a question --> I took 17 hipstamatic pix b4 i figured out how to change the privacy settings. i can see them in recent prints on the hipstamatic but, nowhere else. i desperately want them in my camera roll or to be able to load them into iphoto. is there anyway to retrieve these? hoping for a "yes."

Hey again Mare,

You're hoping for a 'yes' so I'll give you a yes! :)

This can be easily fixed:

Open Hipstamatic and go to the prints gallery, you'll see an Arrow icon in the top right corner. Tap that button.

Then select (by tapping) each of the images you want to save to the Camera Roll.

Once you've got them done then tap the 'Tools' button in the thin menu bar just above the main menu bar along the bottom of the screen.

One of the two options of the button is 'Save to Photo Library'. Tap that, and you should be all set. :)

Cheers!

Hey Kathy,

Thanks for your note. I'm not sure why you wouldn't be seeing that option. To confirm... you are on iOS 6, is that correct?

Is there any way you could post a screen shot of that privacy screen in your Settings app? Perhaps someone here in the forum who's already updated to iOS 6 can point you at the correct option.

Cheers,
Allan

Is there any chance you could send me the screenshot by email? If you've got one you can send, please forward it to me at: support@hipstamaticapp.com

Again, just to confirm... you did update to iOS 6, is that correct?

Hey Dj,

I can't really comment on what that setting does in relation to the Facebook app. I can only say that for Hipstamatic what that does is allow our app to save a copy of your images to the Camera Roll, just as we've done from the start.

The change came from Apple, who is requiring all companies which are photo-related or doing anything with photos (i.e. saving photos to a camera roll on your Apple device), to ask for permission. To reiterate: this is in fact Apple's policy, not ours.

We have had no change in our privacy policy.

Cheers!

Hey Terri,

Thanks for your question.

I can't really comment on what that setting does in relation to the Facebook app. You would have to ask them for specifics on any privacy issues or changes as a result of this update in iOS 6.

I can only say that for Hipstamatic what that does is allow our app to save a copy of your images to the Camera Roll, just as we've done from the start.
