(Account merge complete) Oh noes! I still can't restore my FreePaks

Hi there

I recently posted about not being able to restore my FreePaks after reinstalling the Hipstamatic app on my iPhone 4, even though I can restore the HipstaPaks I paid for. (here: http://is.gd/QLvpJ0)

I was asked to open a new thread if the kind advice from this thread (http://is.gd/WW7NEQ) didn't work in restoring my FreePaks, which is the case. I'm logged into the Hipstamatic app using my one and only Hipstamatic account and still no FreePaks.

Thanks for opening a new thread. It's much easier for us to chat this way. :)

It's definitely your Hipstaccount that stores your free/limited paks. That's an account that I can check for you. If you can let me know the email address you're using to sign in to your Hipstaccount, I can check it in our database to see what paks are there. Do you know which ones you're missing specifically?

My email address is xolager[at]gmail[dot]com, and I'm missing the following FreePaks:

- Cowboys and Aliens
- SXSW
- Americana
- Mac & Milk
- NSW always on

Hey there,

You should be all set now. I've verified those paks are on that account. Can I ask you to make sure that you're signed into the app with that Hipstaccount and then hit the Restore Purchases button in the Hipstamart.

Let me know if that restores everything?

Unfortunately, the FreePaks still aren't restoring. Here's some screenshots...


I log into my Hipstaccount


When I go to Restore Purchases, a Facebook login screen appears. I don't have a Facebook account, so I tap the "x" to close the window


Then I get a dialog box that the FreePaks can't be downloaded (the HipstaPaks I paid for still download though)

Thanks for the screenshots, those help quite a bit.

You note that you don't have a Facebook account, but if you check the first screenshot you posted, you can see that you've logged in with one. See the little Facebook 'f' next to your email address?

So we have to figure out what's up. Do you have no Facebook account whatsoever any more? Did you have one at one time, that you used to set up your Hipstaccount?

At the moment the app *thinks* you're wanting to be signed in with your Facebook account, but if you don't have one we'll have to address that issue.

I had a Facebook account for about one day. I created it to get the free D-Series Camera ;-)

I didn't have a Facebook account when I set up my Hipstaccount though and I've disabled/deleted it since.

Ah! That makes sense. :)

I think I'm understanding what's happened here. It looks as though when you used that Facebook connection to download your D-series camera, that the system associated your Hipstaccount with Facebook. That's not something I can undo, but our web team can fix that for you. I'll contact them and make the request. It likely won't get done today, but we should be able to get that done quickly.

The next issue we'll have to address is the fact that the app has a minor glitch right now. If you scroll down on that Hipstaccount screen you may notice that the Log Out option isn't there. That's something that's already being addressed and will be fixed in the next update. So there may be an additional delay, between getting the Facebook hiccup fixed and getting your paks restored. But we will get them restored for you, don't worry. :)

I'll speak with the web team and at least get the ball rolling on fixing the FB problem.

May I ask another question?

Is is possible to move my Hipstaccount from my current email address to a new one? I hardly use this email address anymore, and if that fixes the facebook issue then it's two birds with one stone :-)

Yes, we can definitely update the email address of your account at the same time. Do you know which email address you want to use going forward?

Sorry to be so long getting back to you. We've been having some ongoing problems on our servers over the last few days that have been affecting logins and restores.

For the moment, I'm hesitant to make any changes to your account, until we get the issues on the servers sorted out. I'm going to leave your thread open for now. Please hang in there. I really appreciate your patience. We'll get this sorted out for you soon.

I'm so sorry your thread didn't get resolved sooner. I sincerely apologize for that.

The issue that was delaying Hipstaccount updates has been sorted out quite a while back. So we can get you back in business now. :)

I checked the database using the addresses you noted above. I see that there's a Hipstaccount under both your Gmail.com address and your UAlberta address. I've already sent in a request to have those two accounts merged into one. That normally takes a day or two. And then I'll follow-up with you with some quick instructions.

Sorry again for the long delay in getting your account sorted out. But we'll make sure all is 100% before we're done!

Just a quick update to let you know that your accounts have been merged into your ualberta.net address. :)

At your convenience, please log out of and back into your Hipstaccount. Please make sure you're continuing to use the email/password login method, at the bottom left corner of the screen. You'll now be logging in with your new email address and your current password.

If you should have any trouble remembering your password, you can always reset it using this link at any time:
