(Under Consideration) Self Timer

I think a self timer would be a great addition - for selfies, group shots and for messing about holding filters and stuff in front of the lens.

I have to agree, and if you could model if on an old analogue self-timer like this one - http://www.flickr.com/photos/42775949... - complete with the authentic noise (think swarm of angry bees) and maybe an animation it would be fantastic.

I'd pay in-app for it!

I presented this comment in the "Front Facing Camera" suggestion thread (as a reply to an Employee's comment) and i think it's valid here as well:

I like (and purchased) IncrediBooth, but it doesn't have the same effects that Hipstamatic does. I think THAT'S what the crowd wants.

I would like to see either a front facing camera option, or (at a minimum) a "lever" that you would "pull" that would act as a delayed timer (preset in options). The lever could be positioned on the opposite side of the quality lever on the front. Adding an audible sound may help the user know the timer/countdown is almost over and the camera is about to take the picture

I think that's a great idea! Old cameras had a mechanic timer too. Make with all the nice noices and it'll be great!

count me in. Self-timer with a switch equal to the resution/size switch on the camera front with 3 positions: off/3sec/10sec. So we can make portraitswhile holding the camera or pics from a tripod.

I would definitely pay extra for an add-on self timer, similar to a hipstapak.

while I probably would pay, I would think it would be better as an update to the Hipstamatic in general. A timer wouldn't take away from that genuine Hipstamatic feel (especially if you can have a satisfying mechanical whirring noise for it) and only make it more useful to Hipstaenthusists.

I have been saying the same thing for months on twitter, and I posted it on the FB was as well. I'm glad it's under consideration.

Just adding my own vote for this feature request. I'm hopeful we'll see this added to Hipstamatic some day soon. :)

Cheers!

I can't tell you how disappointed I am that you released a double exposure pak instead of a self-timer pak. This idea is over 2 years old. We have been loyal hipstamatic users from the start. I have bought every single pak, and participated in the community, hipstachallenge, and promoted you whenever I had the chance. This latest update, filled with serious bugs, and not the least bit responsive to the base of your users makes me want to quit and find a new camera app.

The multi-exposure kit has been a request for just as long, you know. I'm insanely happy to have it and prefer it to the self timer. You can buy a bluetooth remote and trigger the camera remotely when you want it to go off, which has huge advantages over self-timer. Not to say self-timer wouldn't be nice, but please don't say Hipstamatic is not at all responsive to requests when multi-exposure was one among the other things they've done. Also, take into account that they are a small business trying to stay afloat and make enough to be able to fill those requests.

They haven't done everything, of course. I'd still like to see self-timer though I'd prefer to see separate and lockable focus and exposure controls (if Hipstamatic had those I might never use another camera), but self-timer is much more likely in the nearer future.

Julia, I see your point. I am just frustrated by the many bugs in version 260, which seems to be a direct result of the declaration in July that they would be focusing on the magazine instead of the app. Ever since then, everything Hipstamatic has published, trying to appeal to some fashion demo, seems to alienate their base users more and more.

Interesting, I had not heard that about the magazine vs. the app. That does make me sad. I haven't run into too many bugs, just the one where it wouldn't take full resolution images, but I thought that was confined to the iPhone 5. I also had it freeze once or twice.

I get frustrated with bugs, but it seems to me that every app goes through a period of time where things just don't go quite right. Let's hope Hipstamatic will come around and once again be able to dedicate a lot of time to the app. I have to wonder how much of the "we'll be focusing on the magazine" is related to finances, with them laying off all but 5(?) people? Something like that. I hope things pick up for them again soon. Hipsta is my most used camera period and the photography side of my artwork would suffer without it.

If by fashion demo you're referring to their latest packs, I have been unimpressed with those as well. I haven't looked to closely at the magazine issues, but have been trying to find the time. They do seem more fashion related.

I'll just put in my 2ยข about the timer (100% for it!), and I really love the new double exposures option. I discovered very quickly that if you keep rewinding it (rewind after you take one picture, after initiating the effect), you can make triple exposure, quadruple exposure, etc pictures. Pretty cool. :) The effect kind of reminds me of the Dali lens, but with WAY more control (obviously).

Anyway... a timer would be great. :)

I have to admit, I didn't even think about a multi exposure option as a possibility (though I enjoy doing it in 35mm) until it came along. Now that it's here - WOOT!

However I still want a self timer - the problem now, however, is that the real-estate on the back of the camera is getting awfully crowded! Where would it go, how would it look and still keep it attractive? Maybe the mutli-exposure switch will need to be rethought?
