Hey,
you just turned the ringtone switch of your iPhone (on top of the left side) to 'mute', so it says "No Volume available".
Just turn it on and then you can adjust the volume

Did that really solve your problem? I have the same issue when I use any application. I try to listen to something and the volume bar says "No Volume Available".
I have reset the phone already. This did not help. I guess I'll just take it in for repair unless someone has a fix.

Mine is the same way and I know how to use the
mute button on the side of the phone and that is not why I'm getting that message. My iPhone ringers work and the speakerphone but none of the apps have sound nor does it make sound if typing or locking or unlocking my iPhone.

Same thing happened to me karl. No sound on any apps. I think we all know how to work the little silver mute button on the side, and that is obviously not the problem. All I did was completely shut off my iphone and restarted it again. Everything was good after that.

Did you use something like a car charger...specifically one that supports FM modulation?

Usually this occurs if you use a charger device that the iphone does not recognize (the phone will prompt you to activate air plane mode).

To resolve:

Hold down your home and power buttons until the apple logo appears...
If you continue to use that non-compatible car charger your phone will suffer.

Had the same problem with my 3GS. Finally looked at where the USB plugs into the phone and found a piece of paper in there. Shut down my phone and carefully removed it with a sharp knife. The volume returned on all my apps.

I had that problem with my iPod touch after using it on my portable Bose speaker and I followed the advice from this forum and turned it completely off and when I turned it back on the volume returned.

I had this problem too. I would also regularly get the message "This accessory is not optimized for the iPhone...", even though nothing was plugged into the socket. The first time I fixed it, I found a piece of paper in the socket and removed it. This time, I didn't find anything, but scraped around inside with a small screwdriver, and that somehow fixed it.
