I’m really hopeful!

Add support for ping.fm

Would love if Tarpipe came with an account for Ping.fm. So many useful things could be built with that. Any plans or any interest in adding support for Ping.fm? There's a whole crowd of users that would love you for that!

  • Thanks for feedback jyoseph,

This is a very interesting suggestion and we're looking into it. By the way, can you give some examples of usage scenarios of tarpipe + ping.fm?

Sorry for the late reply. I think ping.fm brings some interesting possibilities to the table.

Ping allows a user to set up custom triggers (user.triggers/user.tpost api) which allows them to post to specific services when that trigger is used. In addition to that, you have the ability to set a custom URL where ping will post your data. So as an example, if I send a post to ping w/ a certain custom trigger, that data is posted to my custom URL, from there I can do anything with it.

Anyway I guess I didn't really give any real specifics. :-/

With ping currently supporting updates via voice, image, and now video I think we could figure out some neat mashups. I have to get in there and roll up my sleeves a bit as I'm still learning my way around the tarpipe interface.

btw, here's a dump of one of the posts made to my custom URL from ping, not sure if this really helps but this is the data ping sends along with a post:

  • Hi again jyoseph,

So, by what you're saying, the idea is to have a tarpipe receptor for ping.fm, so that you could ping to a tarpipe workflow, right?
