  • TBDialOut should work with Astmanproxy without special setup in many circumstances. However, there are things you can do to reduce the risk of performance issues.

    TBDialOut is not interested in being notified of events by Asterisk, and when connecting to Asterisk asks not to be sent events. Unfortunately, Astmanproxy does not honour this request. Having to parse large amounts of event information could impact on the performance of TBDialOut and Thunderbird. There are some tricks you can use to prevent Astmanproxy from sending TBDialOut event information.

    One way to do this is to set up a specifc astmanproxy user for TBDialOut, and configure it to only be sent event information relating to a non-existent channel. Add a line such as this to your asmanproxy.users file:

    tbdialout=topsecret,SIP/invalid,,,,,

    Where 'tbdialout' is the username, 'topsecret' is the password and 'SIP/invalid' is an asterisk channel that doesn't exist.
