Is Telegr.am open source?

Hi.

I really like this project (telegr.am) as well as hoisted which I guess is building the static sites.

Is it possible to host telegr.am behind my company's firewalls? That is, is it open source? If so, how does the subdomain configuration work?

Thanks. Please feel free to email me.

    Vic,

The rendering engine for Telegram is open source: https://github.com/hoisted

The hosting part of Telegram is not open source.

    Does that help?

    Thanks,

    David

  • Hi David.

Yeah, that clarifies things. I've already cloned hoisted, as well as looked at a few other similar tools like jekyl.

I guess I was interested in the hosting part b/c it's pretty slick, and I suppose my goal was to reproduce/replicate that sort of functionality behind my firewalls, instead of externally via the telegr.am website.

Are there any future plans to possibly make the hosting engine also open source? Would you recommend using an existing build tool like jenkins maybe to do the same thing (get a webhook from git, build the static content, and then dynamically add a vhost or something to nginx?

Thanks again. Appreciate the quick response/feedback.

P.S., I'm a huge fan of Lift - I think the git polling or the outgoing webhook would be fairly easy to do using comet, but I just wasn't sure about the nginx setup (like, does it require restarting the server?)

I'm not doing much of anything with Telegram. I'd be okay licensing the code to your company. If you want to talk more: feeder.of.the.bears@gmail.com
