Here is the situation, I want the bag to go over my right shoulder, but I want the cam buckle to be on the left, or lower side. Which do I want a left or right handed bag?

If you mean you want the buckle easily accessible to your left hand, you want a left handed bag. Here is a way to think of it. What side does your bag rest on? You you want the cam buckle accessible? If your bag would rest on your left hand side and you want the buckle in front (bottom once you adjust it to messenger style) than left handed it is. If you wear it opposite side than right handed it is.

Hi Eck!:

I'm looking into buying a messenger bag but I'm not sure about the left and right handed-ness. Does it matter about using the cam buckle or will the bag look alright if I don't do that? I like to wear my bag over my right shoulder, but I don't know if I want to really use the cam buckle all the time.

I hope that didn't sound too ramble-y. Thanks for listening!

you can wear the bag on either shoulder that you like. the right or left handed options are what dictate the placement of the cam buckle. if you dont need access to the cam buckle like you said, it is possible to wear the bag on the opposite shoulder. i've done it. and will do it again.
