Failure to transfer number from another provider.

I first signed-up a week ago and asked for my previous number to be transfered. The rep said sure, it will happen within 48 hours.

3 days later, still no transfer, I called back and asked for the number to be transfered again. The rep said sorry, it didn't go through the first time, we are going to try again.

4 days later, again, still no transfer. Called back and they told me that no-one actually has initiated a transfer, but they are going to start one now!!! They also asked me for my AT&T account number (which no other rep asked me before).
