Cannot connect to GTalk, Firewall?

I cannot connect to GTalk, get error "Unable to connect. Please try later. You might be behind a firewall". I can connect just fine from Pidgin (XMPP, port 5222, no SSL/TLS), as well as from my own little perl Jabber client (XMPP, port 5223, SSL & TLS).

Do you know what ports tokbox is using to talk to the Google Talk servers etc?

Hi,

Is port 80 open?

Are you connecting via VPN?

I just discovered it works fine from the AIR client, just not from Firefox.

Well kinda heh, I was planning on using the AIR client anyway, just strange that it won't work in firefox at all.. but lets call it 90% done :)

Hi

Any chance you would be willing to share your Perl API? I'm hoping to include a TokBox element to my website and it would be much easier for me to use a Perl package rather than any of the APIs supplied by TokBox.

@Seoras Ray,

I would like to know more about your perl script which you have mentioned in the question.

Are you able to connect through 5223 i.e through SSL.?

I was able to connect through port 5222 through my perl script but later 5222 was blocked in my proxy server. When I try to connect to port 5223 it is failing. any suggestions.? or can you share your perl script .? If so it would be great help.

you can mail the script to sharath.calvin@gmail.com

here is the snippet of code which was working before the port 5222 was blocked.

my $hostname = 'talk.google.com';
my $port = 5222;
my $componentname = 'gmail.com';
# http cause I am behind a proxy server which acts as a firewall
my $Contype = 'http';
my $tls = 1;

my $status = $Con->Connect(
hostname => $hostname, port => $port,
componentname => $componentname,
connectiontype => $Contype, tls => $tls);
