I've used freestockcharts.com for a couple of years now and I really like(d) them. Your charts BLOW THEM OUT OF THE WATER!
The only thing you could do to make things better is add some capability for adding alerts to symbols in the portfolio.
I would not make a new button or new tool for this - instead, add an option to existing annotations for adding an alert. For example, suppose I have a horizontal line, right-click, "add alert". Suppose I used the "Thumbs-Up" icon .. right-click, "add-alert". This seems the most logical way to add an alert to me.

Can you extend the expiration date on the alerts as far out as the user wants?

SMS alerts would seal the deal on going Pro

4We are making the final internal tests of the alerts functionality. The expected release date - first week of July. It took some time but you'll enjoy the flexibility of this feature. Thank you for you patience. -
The industry does not want this kind of power available to the average person. This is a HUGE advantage they enjoy, because not only do they have alerts, they have STAFF who man the helm 24/7! Having alerts would basically give the average Joe the same kind of manpower as a fully staffed Forex trading company... this is what we are up against here...

Could admins give us any news? Maybe some features about this upcoming alert? It would be nice if there is ability to run custom commands when alert is triggered. Email alert? Give us something.
-
If there's some problem with reaching out to the OS to throw the alert, could you just (temporarily even) create an Alert method that produces an audible sound and a pop-up ? Nothing fancy. We just need to be able to call it in the script like we do for background colors:
alert( value1<value2 ? na : tone=true, text="Go long now!" )

Hello,
Can you please give us an approximate development date? Admin says "close" in your previous post. How close?
End of April, May, June... ?
I am not sure if this feature is treated as priority because I don't think it would take 10 or more months to develop it. -
Alerts based on prices crossing sloping trendlines - as well as just price levels - would be useful too. :)
-
1) Horizontal line and vertical line alerts
2) Trend line alert (price crossing the down trend line)
3) Volume alert (volume crossing MA or line)
4) Indicator crossing (2 MAs, or price crossing MA) alerts.
5) If indicator, volume or price is growing/falling/staying in range for specified amount of periods.
6) If price croses target or stop price of Risk/Reward tool.
7) Complex alerts (if 2 or more conditions meet at the same time.)
Example: Price stays in 50 cent range for 10 days, and volume comes in (volume crosses 5MA) -
Please add alert for Indicator levels too !!
-
Its very hard to control all symbols. I mean very hard to watch for them everyday.
So my idea will help with this.
I offer target-alert system. Alerts and distance to the targets are visible in watchlist.
This is how i see it.
Any questions?

imo, price alert and indicator alert are the most useful tool to make tradingview a full featured trading product. i will become a paid subscriber once it is in place.

TC2000 the pro version of freestockcharts is a lot better than tradingview.com, because tradingview.com is only for charting and not for scanning.
The only advantage of tradingview is that it works behind firewalls. TC2000 is silverlight application that uses different port nuimbers which are usually locked in big companies.
You can change the layout of your charts in tc2000 and in freeestockcharts.com to look exactly identical as tradingview so your first sentence is incorrect-
We are building a scanner, don’t worry. Should be available in a couple of months. Also working on paper trading...

Wow, Mid December great news!

yes, I really need to be able to add alarms to charts. The rest is great. Scrubbed data, removing one-off prices that are way away from where price is actually trading would be helpful too.

An idea that I believe can help traders here a big deal. Can you add a n alert based on price that give a vocal sign and is sent to the customer Email. Worden T2000 have it and it functions very well.
Thanks and have a great weekend

What would be a logical extension of this "alert" level is to make us all aware of alert levels that people have placed on a stock. That way we could collectively see if we want to be alerted on a decline to a price or alerted on a rise to a price.
We could also then judge how well the market acts at that "alert" level to give us an indication for the future movement from there.
Can we all agree to share our "alert levels" with everyone else?
That is a synergistic, leveraged way to utilize our information that we are generating collectively.
Tim West-
I agree with that!
-
-
"Can we all agree to share our "alert levels" with everyone else? "
That would totally become sort of manipulation. One with more followers will certainly have impact in the PPS. when the alerts get triggered Especially those low float stock tickers.
On Stocks like AAPL or GOOG with a huge Market Cap this would not be an issue.
How would tradingview filter the alert sharing based on Marketcap? -

Price and Volume Based alerts will be really great, eagerly waiting..... Please add them.

Alert feature is so much needed however, keep it simple. Start with basic single or multiple price alert only so to make it available in shortest period of time. Other types of alerts, can be included in premium feature.
-
-
We need ALERTS. Alerts like EMA crossovers, RSI, Stochastic would be very beneficial,
-
Indicators crossing can be in a scan (or streamer). A full fledged streamer is not what we are looking for.
If you need a streamer, you can use many other tools and most of the brokers (US) have 'em. A basic Price and Volume Alert would be sufficient to start with. -

Flexible Alerts Required.
Will we be able to set out own rules for alerts? This would be an amazing feature. For example... my trade signals involve a cross of the EMA.. so I would like to be able to say "alert me when 5EMA > 20 EMA" for example and then possibly add in an additional requirement of the alert to say for example "alert me when 5EMA>20EMA & DB_RFX > 0.1"
Is this going to be rolled out? -
-
regarding to alerts: hope that I am not the only person who would deeply appreciate email_alerts
the idea is simple: once a trend line is drawn, an option to add email_alert, so if price reaches / crosses the TL, an email is going to be send
the text of such email can be as short as: "EURUSD allert"
Many thanks,
Antony-
+1 !
but user configurable text + the option to embed a link to the chart in the email alert would be good. (better still if the link gives access without logging in, in case we need to trade off it quickly eg from a different computer where we're not logged in to TV...) -

Please allow us to set alert for indicator crossing any other indicator in the same pane. ty!

Pricelevels alerts is a must on the chart or/and watchlist, sound and visual and then email, sms alerts.
And after that alerts on indicators like trendlinebreakout.
would be great if that could be arranged -

Alerts for TA levels with options for email, sound, pop up SMS notification. List of active alerts and triggered alerts would also be useful.

What would help TradingView add 1k+ Pro Real-Time
paid memberships by year end 2014
1. Real-Time Alerts - sent to any device (preset by user)
2. Real-Time Chart Type with sync superimposed time frames
3. Adding more Real-Time chart types (candle volume - Renk-Ashi - Elder Impulse and more) -
-
What would attract users to TradingView
Adding paper trades for free and work towards prizes -

I wonder if there's any ETA. The Alerts have been promised over a year ago....

Are there any suggestions for a good alert service until TradingView develops an alert system ? Thanks.

I need to know approximate date if this is planned. I'm trialing the service right now and considering not to renew if alerts are not coming soon.
thanks. -

Appreciate the info. Mid-Feb, ok, about 6 more weeks. How to best get buy with what is available until then. Thinking thinking...

Alerts would be a great feature
Real time alerts triggered on indicator levels and if possible using basic scripts and conditions
Notifications should be sent via email and other channels e.g. FB, PUSH notification, SMS etc. -
-
Had the idea of combining a "portfolio" or custom watch list of favored stocks with an alert system. For this to work, the alert would have to be based on a generic condition like Bollinger Band Width contracting to a certain percentage, or RSI breaking above the 80 level.. Alerts could be emailed or messaged when any stock in the portfolio experienced a specified change.
Thanks again for a great site! -

Is it possible to create an alert for a script we created. Example if 1 line cross over another line in indicators. That would be nice. Thanks for all the good work you all do. Cheers :D

Trial subscription about to end. Will not buy full subscription without alerts. Any update on this, love your charts but hate having to go back and forth from MT4.
