When playing small movies it returns the error "video too short... maybe trailer?"
As i can understand this it also does this on for example the Pixars short. Is there some solution for this? Do i need to ad them as they do exist in tmdb.com

What media center and plugin are you using? If you code post the snippet from the log where it sends to the API and gets this response that would be great. This check was put it a long time ago, but it's probably worth revisiting.

Mediacenter: XBMC (Pre-Eden nightly build) in combination with Trakt Utilities.0.6.0
Here the part of the log file.

How long are the short movies you are watching? The main thing is we exclude short things right now to help ignore trailers.

Do you have plans to improve the Hour Limit and Short Movie limitation? It would be nice if you checked the runtime of the movie in the checks.

I think Hour Limits can be smarter by checking if they had watched atleast 80% of the runtime for the movie as defined on the site (not whats sent locally).

I think you can still also set limits...like no more than 10 shorts in a day.

The limits were originally put in place because people were abusing the scrobbling and essentially spamming the API. Its less of an issue now that media centers support full syncing of previously seen items. We plan on revisiting it yes to see what improvements can be made.

The ones i have are the pixar shorts. They bart from 1 to 8 minutes or so. I've noticed that with trakt the are listed as tv show however i have them as movies. With TMDb they are also listed as movie.

Yeah, some people add information about movies on thetvdb and vice versa. But if they get scrobbled as part of a tv show than maybe (if you are using xbmc, i don't know how it is with other mediaplayers) you got them in a folder that only scans for tv shows.

They are in my movies library in xbmc and on trakt also in movies. So they are added to my collection only not scrobbled as watching. However if i sync the watched status it doen't give an error.

This is fixed at the API level.
