Setting location services on

  • Question
  • Updated 3 years ago
Every time I get a notification I get a message telling me to enable location services in general settings. In my iPhone general settings Location Services ARE SET to ON. Is Trapster referring to some other setting and if so please tell me what it is and where to find it.

Hi FKlassen,

We are trying to recreate this bug. We will keep you updated.

Which version of Trapster, and which OS are you using?

Thanks,

Sean

Hi,

Is your phone jailbroken too? Also, are you running the latest version of Trapster?

Thank you,
Stefanie

I must have checked everything at least 5 times and all notifications are ON, but still get a message telling me I need to turn it on. Trapster needs to fix this problem.

Since the latest update whenever I get a push notification on my iPhone from Trapster and I immediately slide my finger across the screen when Trapster opens it says 'location services not enabled' and 'push notifications not enabled' even though they are. If I close trapster and open it again the problem goes away. Never noticed this problem with the previous version. My phone is jailbroken, but I don't think that has anything to do with this issue because it was working fine before and I haven't put any new apps on it lately.

Seen this as well today. But oddly I was on Wifi only when connecting to wireless nextwork and going back into Trapster all was back to normal.

Turning location services off and on makes no difference here... I have even gone as far as doing a full restore as new. If you ignore the popup and wait and go in afterwards manually it does not generate this issue. If you open Trapster directly it does not generate this issue. If you receive a Notification and select to view the trap this message occurs BUT it does have location services and does connect to GPS. Just a false error message basically. It is something that Trapster definitely needs to address in the code of a future release. For the instant it's just an annoyance, nothing more! :-)

If anyone can help me, I would appreciate it. I just downloaded this app on my blackberry curve and logged in after verification. I do not get the red dot on my screen and it always says on the top of the screen, "Searching for location...Press "0" to set location manually.
Is anyone having this kind of problem?

I am having the same problem, I have the blackberry curve 8530. I read on the trapster site that with verizon you have to install an external bluetooth GPS here is the link http://74.125.45.132/search?q=cache:8...

The 8530 does not have a GPS chip.

Even with the new update the trapster shows that I'm in Asia and I'm in Hawaii. I have checked all settings and they are set up properly. When will this be working properly

Maybe check your device and make sure your date and time are correct, also your time-zone and any regional settings

I have the same issue and its been there for a while. While it is not impacting the use of the application it can be a little annoying.

This thread does not speak well to this company. I have the same issue that KingofQC asked 6 months ago and as far as I can tell there has been no response with a fix action by anyone from Trapster, never mind that KingofQC's question above is presented as the "Best Answer" to the original question which is ridiculous. Obviously no one is monitoring this. This could be an incredibly huge and successful service that could easily migrate to a subscription model but not if this is the support people are going to get. Very frustrated.

Just to clarify, three users of the forum clicked "This answers the question", which places it at the top automatically. We resolved his problem through email he had also sent.

Anyway, what phone do you have? What version of the OS and what version of Trapster? I will help you as best I can.

Trapster is saying that your Location Services aren't on?

YES... I have the same problem, just installed the app... I get the red dot 'radiating'.... but the background is blank (no Google Maps), and if I tap the 'Target' button in the upper right hand corner, I am told:

Location Services Disabled

Trapster requires location services.
Please enable location services in
your general settings.
