I’m frustrated

TRMS is bad juju

We've had system up about 20 months, server has crapped out twice and power supply killed itself once. Not looking for answers, just letting everyone know, it's unreliable, and customer service was at best..... uninterested. It wasn't until i sent a scathing email to the sales department that we got any kind of proper response.
If i had to do it again, i'd go with Princeton Server Group

So the only time you chime in on the user forum is to shill for PSG? If you look at most of the posts here, you will see a quite different story.

Power supplies do die. Its just the nature of electronics. Our experience with customer service has been nothing but top notch. I know of serveral systems that have been running for over 5 years without a hiccup. Get along little doggie.

    I’m happy
I agree with dslwizard. This is a first-rate company with great products. I've had nothing but the best in customer service and technical support. I deal with many companies that support various systems in our plant, and really, none comes close to the satisfaction we get from TRMS.

    I’m sad for Walt
    Walt:
So sorry to hear about your frustrations and your ultimate defeat by the technology/support. So sales gave you a proper response? Does this mean that they solved your issue?

The one thing that I do know is that tech can be a pain and before you tout Princeton, have you listened to their user base and their issues? Consider how much contact you can have with Princeton developers, support, management. Maybe it is better - I just haven't seen the evidence that blows me away.

I've kept a running total of my purchases both for my organization and my consulting jobs, in the past 9 years I have spent 2.65 million in broadcast tech and worked with over a hundred different manufacturers/vendors. In that time period I have consistently recommended a handful of products/solutions. Only 3 organizations have exceeded my expectations and cost/value ratio - and TRMS is one of them.

Good luck to you, this experience will be a learning one for both you and TRMS.

  • I’m sad
    Walt,

I am one of the original TRMS system owners, going back almost 9 years (I still have my original 1 RU computer that the original system came on!). With all the computers (19 total running TV), I've had one supply fail, in my SX server, a few years ago. I quickly placed a spare in service and ordered an exact replacement from TRMS, which was in stock and shipped immediately.
Over the years I've had extensive contact with most everyone at TRMS. We all have computer issues, both hard- and software, however, I have, and will continue, to recommend TRMS for access and digital signage systems. Some of the best service and support, as well as top-of-the-line hardware, I've ever had in over 40 years in the telecomm business as an engineer.

Dave, DSLWizard and Sean are right on!

  • As many have Posted computers fail but parts but can be replaced. All computers can fail even a dell or a trms computer it is just how it works. We have had issues with a TRMS Server and with the Rock Stars at TRMS they had a new server to us and back up and running. As with all software there will be a issue from time to time and when that happens to us TRMS is always right on top of things. If you use the TRMS Support team you will get excellent support.

  • I would also like to echo the positive sentiments expressed here. We've been with TRMS for about eight years now, and have had nothing but good experiences with all departments - especially support. About five years ago, we had issues with a particular piece of hardware that were so problematic, I was speaking to support daily. They never took our problems for granted or stopped trying to fix them. Eventually, the piece was replaced.

Anyone who works closely with electronics or computers knows that you're bound to have components that break down or malfunction. Any company you choose for your systems is not going to be able to guarantee otherwise. For me, Tightrope not only has excellent personal service, but also gives the customer several different resources in order to get their support. They're top-notch in my experience.
