Adding comments to retweets

How do I add a comment to a retweet? Like if I want to say "lol" or "I agree", etc to go along with what I want to retweet, how do I do that?

Just type it after your message.

For example,

RT @Ashley: Twitter is awesome! -- yes, I agree! :)

You wrote "Twitter is awesome!" and I replied with "yes, I agree!" in that example.

I just tried this. I clicked the retweet button and it went ahead and retweeted the tweet without allowing me to add a comment. I had to put my comment in a separate tweet after I retweeted.

Strange. I haven't used Twitter for a while but I doubt it would have changed much.

You can always manually select someone's tweet, copy it (Ctrl+C on Windows, or just right-click), and then paste it into the box for your status update (Ctrl+V to paste)

I have the same problem Mike Cooper mentioned. It just automatically retweets and doesn't "wait" in the box for me to complete it. I would rather not copy/paste so that it shows up as a true retweet. I can't find anything on Twitter that addresses this. It used to work for me.

I've been using an extension for Google Chrome called "Chromed Bird", which offers me two options for every tweet in my unified timeline.

- Retweet
- Share (old school RT)

I assume that means that Twitter changed the way the retweet function works, and you can no longer add comments to the end using the links on the twitter homepage.

I'd suggest you give Chromed Bird a try and see if it works for you.

Download Google Chrome web browser here: http://www.google.com/chrome
Download the Chromed Bird extension by using this link in the Chrome browser: https://chrome.google.com/extensions/...

Shane thanks for the info! I've already been using Google Chrome, so I just downloaded the extension & so far, so good! No more copying & pasting.

I have the same problem, too. I guess it means I'll just have to use the copy/paste technique to at least LOOK like I'm doing a retweet....

use tweetdeck - it gives you the option of "editing" before you retweet.

I use echofon, I love it because you can mute follower's who spam. It also adds the ability for commenting on retweets. (For iPhone)
