How are you using the Aviary Image Editor?

Now that Aviary has been out a few weeks, hopefully you've been using it to snazzy up your images!

You can see how I've used Aviary to give myself an eye patch and draw a cute snail:

We'd love to see what you're doing with Aviary! Upload your own images here!

I've been using Aviary for less flashy but no less important needs, like adjusting:
Saturation, Sharpness and Brightness of images that I post so they end up looking just how I want them to look – how I remember the moment looking when the photo was taken...like this one (edited using Aviary)...

Oh Typepad, you know I love you, but you are giving priority to being able to 'snazz' up photos with ....snails and love hearts.....??....... over the addition of a Pinterest button - a vital social media/traffic generating tool???!?

Please guys!!!!! SORT IT OUT!

Annabel, we know and appreciate that you're eager for the Pinterest button. But people have been asking for image editing improvements for a very long time and we're really happy to have found a good partnership with the team at Aviary. This thread is just to show some fun things you can do with Aviary. The improvements to the image editor benefit ALL TypePad users.

Aviary works great for me although I don't do fancy things : )

Improvement needed : when I try to insert a floating image on the right, the text is too close to the image. Is there a way to adjust the "padding" ?

If you have a post where you'd like to change the padding around the image, you can click the HTML tab for the post and look for code like this:

<div id="photo-xid-6a00d834523e7969e201630108af8b970d" class="photo-wrap photo-xid-6a00d834523e7969e201630108af8b970d photo-full " style="float: left; margin: 0px 5px 5px 0px; width: 374px;">

You'd change this part:

margin: 0px 5px 5px 0px;

to use the padding that you'd rather see. You can increase it or decrease it, just by changing the numbers.

Are you looking to do this across your blog completely or only in some instances?

I would like different typefaces.

Also, ever since you introduced aviary posting has become more difficult. Spacing is way off. I can't hit the spacebar for a new paragraph and if I go back to re-edit a post if I try to add or delete spacing some text always disappears.I don't know if this is a coincidence or a function of the beta testing but I'm not happy. Though I do like the idea of image editing on site.

There is an issue regarding spacing around images that we're working on resolving, so this is probably what you're experiencing.

Please remember that the Aviary image editor is in Beta, so there will most likely be issues like this that you and our other Beta team members will encounter. That's the nature of Beta - you get to try out new things, but you may also find some bugs along the way.

Opening a help ticket to report the issue or posting about it here will let us know the problems you're experiencing and we can work on getting them resolved quickly.

If you decide that the problems outweigh the benefit of the feature, you can always go to the Account tab, uncheck the Beta option, and remove yourself from the Beta team.

Thanks Kymberlie. I may bow out of Beta and wait until the system's kinks are worked out. I did send a help ticket and I do look forward to a smooth Aviary because it's a great idea.

Hi Liza!

It's super easy to switch out of and back into Beta, and we completely understand that testing each thing isn't for everyone!

We really appreciate your feedback on this.
