Fibaro Home Center 2 interface and OS

Hi,

Have a few questions re HC2 which I'd like to clear before moving on:

1. I'd like to have a control system/user interface that, once installed, runs independently from 3rd parties service providers/servers/etc. Do I get that with HC2 for all functionalities?

2. Apart from being able to control the devices through pc/mac/iPhone/iPad, I'd like to have installed a in-wall touchscreen / pad that runs the app for control. Is this possible (without having to buy a tablet and hang it on the wall)? if so, could you advise on a few models/brands?

I'd be greatly thankfull if someone could answe these questions!

Many thanks,

Rui

Hi Rui

The HC2 is a self contained control solution, so yes you can operate this directly via IP and it runs independently. Although Fibaro offer a portal service for capability of remote access to your HC2 this is purely optional too, you could still chose to configure ports on your router for direct access if you wish.

We currently don't have any touchscreen options that we can offer advice on at present that would work with the HC2 beyond attaching an iPad or iPod touch to the wall. We are on the lookout for a solution such as this however so please keep an eye on our site, blogs and feeds for new products as we continue to enhance our product range.

Best Regards

Hi Paul,

Thank you very much for your reply. I'll keep an eye on news from Fibaro.

I do have another question: if for some reason the HC2 ar some relay switch stops working properly can I still for example switch lights on and off locally on the wall switches?

Again, thanks a lot!

Best wishes,

Rui

Hi Rui

With respect to the HC2 being off for whatever reason, yes the local switch would still work. For the modules however it would really depend on the circumstance for the fault of the module, so there the chance removal may be required if its totally faulty.
