z-wave temperature sensor ZME_ITEMP: unreliable readings

  • Question
  • Updated 3 years ago
i have a problem getting a reliable temperature reading from a z-wave temperature sensor ZME_ITEMP. Often it reports -103 for the temperature. It seems a little more reliable when it is positioned close to the wireless base but moving a few metres away it becomes unreliable. Has anyone any suggestions. thanks

Hi

We've received similar reports this week and have just received confirmation from the manufacturer today that there is an issue with this device with the temp sensor which they are looking to fix wth newer firmware, for which we have no timescales for other than we're told they are pushing hard for it to be finished.

We'll keep on top of this and report when newer firmware is released and procedures for arranging an update.

I hope they get this sorted very quickly.

Regards
Paul

Many thanks for the reply. Reassuring to know this information and that the problem has been recognised. (and its not just me)
Is the problem with the sensor or the vera unit?

Having only purchased this device a week ago, can you offer a solution to allow me to proceed in the meantime?

many thanks

Hi

The problem is with the device itself (not the vera or you :) ), unfortunately we have no workarounds at the moment beyond returning the item for an alternative such as the everspring temperature and humidiy sensor if you only need the temp sensing:

We'll keep pushing for feedback on the firmware but we can't guarantee a timescale for this.

Apologies for the inconvenience.
