Green valley ranch, Colorado (80249) - missing parks and transit

My home is directly across the street from Town Center park (the largest park in the area), yet your score shows the nearest park almost half a mile away. It doesn't even recognize the park as being there.
There are other missing things, namely the light rail line and a recreation center on the south side of Town Center park.
There are also inaccuracies, such as a Chase Bank and a Popeyes marked far north from their actual locations.
If you are going to put your scores forth as a judge of a property's attributes, at least make sure they're even close to accurate. Someone could even sue you for your misinformation and its potential damage to home values.

    Thanks Andrew,

We pull data from a number of sources but they don't always have all of it accurate. This is an unusual number of issues in one area, so thanks for calling our attention to it.

We do also rely on users to make corrections to help us be better than the sum of those data sources. I went ahead and added Town Center Park and corrected the locations of Chase bank and Popeyes. I'm including notes below on how to add more places.

Note: It will take a few days for these edits to show up, and may take weeks or months before the scores get recalculated there.

I did some research and it looks like RTD runs both the buses and the light rail. That's strange that we're missing light rail then -- usually an issue like that would be because of two different agencies and only one of them publishing their data. I've asked the engineer on our team who does the most work with transit to take a look at that and see if he can determine why it's missing.

I didn't do anything with the recreation center -- that wouldn't show up in any of our categories.

Here's how to add additional missing places to Walk Score:

    * Go to www.walkscore.com and type in the address in “Get Your Score” search bar
    * Click on the "Map" button or on the map itself to bring up the big "What's Nearby" map
    * Click “Add a Place” button just below the map
    * Fill out the fields in the pop-up screen: category, place name, address, phone, website, etc
    * Sign in with either a Gmail or Facebook account – click “Submit”

    Best,
    Jesse

  • Thank you for your reply!
My guess as to why the rail line is missing is that it's relatively new (opened in April), but I wanted to make sure it gets added.
Thank you for the suggestion on adding places. I will be sure to use it in the future.
    Thanks again!

Good to know about the rail line!

We actually did find a newer feed for RTD data that does have that line. We don't have it yet but we should be able to process it and get it to show up in the next week or so.

    Best,
    Jesse
