Does WLE use log file datestamp or record datestamp to organize data in the database?

How does web log expert use the date/time of the log creation to place the users' access to the site into the database chronologically, OR does it use the time stamp on the individual record in the files? I ask because I created a Frankenstein's monster of a log file from several logging sessions on the same day. The final product was completed three days after the day on which the logging sessions occur. ALSO: do various file naming conventions matter to WLE? If Monday to Wednesday are named 2014-iis-logs-mon,zip -tue.zip , and -wed.zip, and then the last two days of the week are named THU-LOGS.zip and FRI-LOGS.zip, how will the program deal with them?
