You can have a background on the entire site, using the 'edit template' and 'background' option in there.
AND you can set a background on an individual page, using Page Options when editing that page.
Check to make sure you don't have a background set in the Page Options for the home page.
Also, once you make changes, clear your cache if they don't show up.

Are the other pics all the same?
If so then maybe change the background in the "edit template menu"
if you already tried that, then go to the page options of your main page and then change the background picture from there. -

none of those things work, I've tried all of that, like the user wrote everything else changed just not the homepage

Hello! In the Page Option drop-down menu, click the minus icon next to "Background Image. It looks like a white minus inside a red circle.
Thanks! -

I keep having this same problem and I am not alone. The background on my profile page is not a background I have chosen it is a Rhianna background and appears to be something going on with webs.com server.
It appears regardless of the browser I am on. The first time this happened Webs was on the site for weeks. You couldn't find a problem with the site then and it disappeared now it's back.
The background does not appear on my control panel on editor or any of the pages allowing me to change backgrounds. IT ONLY APPEARS ON THE SITE. Indicating something going on on YOUR END. I'm tired of paying for something I'm not getting. My site is 900+ and growing this is ridiculous.
A real solution to the problem would be vastly appreciated.

wow! & i thought i was the one who had the worst luck here!! 900 pages, wow!!! holy crap!!
mine is only 40 pages, but there are up to 100 pics on some pages. Unfortunately you are not going to find a solution to your problem my friend. freewebs has changed TOO much...
yes, freewebs has changed sooo much that it is confusing to come back, and
#1 - i have to pay TWICE as much to get "my" domain
#2 - i had to pay JUST to HAVE my account!! wth???
#3- things are much more confusing, if i am getting rid of some pics on a page, it says "save" or "publish" , i mean what??? obv i want to save the sob. as for publish?? no clue.
damnitalltohell, i used to be a master at this program, now its just pissing me off. the ONLY and i mean the ONE reason i don't Bounce is; in 2007 and 2008 i put in HUNDREDS, possibly THOUSANDS of hours of work, why mess with that??? still, NOT pleased, hope you guys are happy with all that $$$$ you're makin, cuz all you're doin is FuKn us over.........if i had the inclination i would start anoth website elsewhere...as it is, i plan to stay. Lucky You. I can also be found at Lj, Tumblr, Blogspot, WP. i do, however, enjoy having my
jiinxsay.com
but that's the LAST time i do that!
muahhhzzzzz<3 lotsa LOVE, Jiinxsay -

"Save" saves your changes in the editor, "Publish" applies them to the live site.

Webs removed the option to center a background behind a template and have it as a static image that doesnt scroll.
I used this option all the time. How do I code that into the template?-

I'm having a similar problem - I changed the template, and the change shows correctly in the editing menu. But when I go to the page, There's a red pattern that had been the appearance of when I first created the website. I skimmed over the background images in the advanced CSS (I'm learned some CSS at school), but the darn thing still isn't there. :/
Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

I've reset the site's template and background, and the issue should now be resolved.

I am also having the same issue. It has let me change the background on some of the pages of my site, but not all of them. If I try to change it via edit website it will allow me to click page options and background image, but doesn't bring up the next box to do it or let me delete the background. If I try to do it via modify template it won't even change the template or let me click on the background i've uploaded. I've cleared my cache multiple times and nothing is changing. I just have the "oops image not found!" background for 3 out of 6 of the pages :(
