So I have been receiving some visitors on my website I don't quite enjoy and they keep scamming me using online store and also using my forums in a way I dont like. So I had this idea, where you could block a persons IP address from accessing your website. While at it, why not block a whole region or a country that you have no interested on letting access your website?
I would personally love this.

Since IP addresses can be dynamic, and IP blocks bypassed with proxies, we will not be offering any IP block solutions.

Hey Guys,
Unfortunately this is not an idea that we've decided to go forward with at this time. We'll continue to monitor this topic in the future in case this enhancement is considered.
Thanks for your input on this topic. We appreciate your feedback.

This idea needs more attention. I currently have a website with Webs that has a trademarked (unregistered) name. I won't allow other people from other countries other than United Kingdom to view my website due to the fact that the name and logo is a trademark for my works. Since it is unregistered, people from other countries can take my rights away from it, and would dis-value all the work I have put into not only the website, but the games I intend to make and sell.
of course, I have the jurisdiction to use the Passing Off law, but that only applies in the UK, which is very unfair for me. So region restrictions are deeply required for me, for my copyright protection as well as my trademark protection. -

I agree this issue needs to be addressed. I have a website that is for my local business and I keep getting a IP address from India that fills out my contact form phishing for information. My business is completely local and I would like to be able to limit it from being viewed from anywhere outside of the US.
Of course webs doesn't seem to care since I've contacted them about this concern months ago and got NO response. -

I have the same problem with visitors from Africa and Russian Federation. They keep trying to reset my password.

There is this guy that has a website I am competing with, however, he keeps trying to steal my ideas, and thinks that I will colaborate with his website, but I will not! Isn't that copyright? He just sees how people are showing more interest in my website, because it is actually fun! There are also some haters that are jealous of me, telling that guy what I'm doing with his site.
My point is: Webs needs to have a feature (not just premium members) that lets ANY website have a IP blocker! I have that address saved to my desktop, so that as soon as I can, I will put it in, and if that guy goes to http://realguidefans.webs.com ,it will BOOT him outta there!!!!! -

They are trying to make us upgrade to premium membership by ignoring this problem of unwanted visitors being able to access our sites.

I have a premium membership it still happens

You can use a service like myipblocker.com
You can block a whole country or IP range. It is very easy to configure and you just need a line to add to your website. -

We Really Really Need a Way to block IP's or full Countries from accessing our website. This should ALREADY be an option for us. Lets make it happen please...

For the last month I've had the same ip address use an AOL search of my website and continually visit for a few seconds and then repeat the same process over and over again. I've looked up the specific address and it says its from SBC Internet services and that its located in a Cemetary in Los Angeles. What??
I'm assuming this is a bot...
In addition to that I've had in the past another bot revisit my site over 150 times in 1 day. Not sure why that happened.
Either way, I'd like to know if there is a way that I can block these specific ip addresses so that it doesnt skew my clicky numbers. I have a free account... Is there anything I can do to change this? I only have so many ip addresses that I can name and filter out, but the growing bots that seem to visit worries me that something is going to get my info or that my website will be shut down.
Thanks for any help, thoughts on this...

Ok so apparently this is a common issue yet mods will only acknowledge this issue through combining threads... Ridiculous... Why isnt a webs person responding to this issue???
-
Because they absolutely suck.

Yeah pretty much... Year later for some of the people chatting about this issue yet nothing is done...

Someone in the administration should really give us this option because I always get this IP from someone in France competing with me and trying to steal ideas from my website. I hate the fact that this blocking option isn't available already...but I'm probably talking to a wall...

-
Wow this is the worst! It will be hell but if this issue is not addressed I will not be upgrading, I'll just build my website elsewhere. Webs is still making money off free sites through ads. We should all be protected!

I am seeking a restraining order against someone who is now accessing my business website. He went on today and went on the Contact us page twice. I am afraid he will contact me over matters that are non-business related. Setting up a block will really help against this type of harrassment.

I could have sworn that I found an option to do this by page and set my home page to block countries, now they hit the site from contact us to home page. I can't find that option anywhere now. Was it there as a test or am I insane?

Just yesterday I had the bad experience of my site getting trolled for the first time. I can see the 2 IP addresses the person is using in Clicky Stats. I would really like the ability to block them from my site. I see this thread was started 4 years ago. Has any progress been made, Webs? Please help. Trolls sure can make life miserable for us, and I have a premium business account. I can't spend my day monitoring if this person has posted negative comments all over my site.

I found this tutorial:
https://mediatemple.net/community/pro...
It says we can upload a .htaccess file with this:
Secure directories by IP address and/or domain
In the following example, all IP addresses and domains are accepted, except for xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx and example.com:
# allow all except those indicated here
order allow,deny
allow from all
deny from xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx
deny from .*example\.com.*
Webs, will this work? The one thing I worry about is it says upon upload it will be a hidden file and I don't see access to hidden files in the Webs FTP. So if I ever wanted to modify or delete it, would I be able to find the hidden file? -
