FAQ- Content not showing up in EDIT mode? But showing up in VIEW? SUPPORT-34 FWB-12059

If you are editing your site and the content disappears from the EDITOR - yet appears in the site when you VIEW it, then this is a problem stemming from codes you've added that have essentially disabled (broken) the site builder for that page.

Here's how to determine if this is the problem you are experiencing:

1. Edit your site.

Do the changes show up in EDIT mode?

If YES, this is not your issue. -- Please create a new topic.

If NO, then go to step 2.

2. check your site in VIEW mode.

Do the edits show up in VIEW mode?

If YES, then go to step 3.

If NO, then this is NOT your issue. --Create a new topic.

3. Switch to Classic Editor mode

Go to the Control Panel
Click on Site Settings
Scroll down and change from PageBuilder to Classic Editor
Now edit your page

Do the edits NOW show up in EDIT mode (using the classic editor)?

If YES, then read this entire post.

If no, then post a NEW topic, describing your exact problem and providing a link to any affected pages.

This problem comes from bad coding in your page. Bad coding can break the PageBuilder on that page.

How did your page get bad coding on it?

This can happen when you add codes to your page from an outside source, such as a widget or banner advertisement.

It can also happen when you copy and paste text and other content into your content boxes!

This is a very common problem - that copying and pasting text and other content from an email, another webpage, a website builder, etc. - breaks the content box and site builder.

The reason for this is that copying text and other content copies the hidden codes that whatever program you used to type it up has added to it. This can include:

MS Word
email
other websites
other pages in your Webs site
website builders such as Dreamweaver and MS Publisher

If this is your problem, you must follow these steps to correct the issue:

1. Create a new page. (I know this is a pain in the neck, but... there is no way to correct the codes that are breaking the page. You need to create a new page.)

Type, do not COPY all the text in the new page. Do NOT copy and paste into the new page, or you may have the same problem again!

2. Delete the current page.

If the broken page is your homepage, then you need to create the new page, then use the option in the Site Manager to switch the homepage.
