My Name is John Clifford, I have been using Webs.com for approx 10 years. I am a Web Site Designer. I have designed well over 80 Web Sites. I have been using the Classic Editor to Build & Design these sites. I have very few problems using the Classic Editor. Now the Classic Edito is not available for any new sites. I have been reading the many problems thaT ARE having. I have not had problems that many are describing using the classic editor. I went into webs.com today & tried to start a new site using the New Site Builder. I am having problems with copy & paste, even tried using note pad, still having problems. Tried to upload a Graphic & put it on a page. The Graphic came in above the Header & could not get it to be placed within the page. Could not align text to the left or right of a picture. I have had none of these problems with the Classic Editor. I am extremely disappointed that the Classic Editor is no longer available. It has work almost flawlessly for me for the last 10 years. It is obvious that the new site builder has many gliches & problems. I hope that the support people & tech's take note of this observation that I have made & take not of the experience that I have had with the Classic Editor. It is an excellent Web Site Design Program. I can't figure out why they would want to get rid of an excellent program that has so few flaws. What's the ole saying, if it aint broke, don't fix it!!! Please Webs.com Support Team & Webs.com Tech's take notice of this. You may contact me personally at jclifford01@charter.net. I am a hugh believer In Webs.Com & The Classic Editor, You.... Webs.com & the Classic Editor have served me extremely well for the past 10 years. Thank You in advance for your attention & consideration.

I would be happy with having an option to edit using either the new editor, and an HTML editor. One such tool which supports this is the freetextbox control. It allows users to edit the HTML directly, or use a wysiwyg editor.
I'm a web developer, and find it would be much easier to get sites looking and working much better if HTML editting was available. -
Hi John,
i completely agree.
A lot of things do not work and or not fixed for the last years, especially special characters in foreign languages.
Leaves me now also to delete a newly created website.
I'll leave it for the drupal software I learned.
There is a saying: listen to your customers.
I lost a lot of customers, got complaints, signaled it but in vain.
There is one positive side: all good companies ask why you are leaving, so they're getting good statictics, achieving all iso-procedure quotes but losing money.
I upgraded twice in a couple of years, nothing changed (qulaity and stability on international characters)
If as a company you're only interested in getting income through ads (often annoying for the visitors) you run the risk of having your customers leave you web-community for ever.
Unfortunately, that's what I'm forced to do.
But I tried and was preaching in vain in the desert.
Sad...but lives goes on.
Paid a lot of bucks (us dollars) for my new website, which freewebs will not get now, year after year.
That's the free market.

1Hello John!
It sounds like you're experiencing a couple issues while editing using the SiteBuilder tools. We're happy to assist with any trouble that you may have.
Copying and pasting is more restricted in the SiteBuilder due to it's different design compared to the Classic Editor. You can find more information on Copying and Pasting issues in these topics:
http://support.webs.com/webs/topics/c...
http://support.webs.com/webs/topics/h...
It sounds like you also experienced an issue with images not being inserted correctly into a content box, which is covered in this topic:
http://support.webs.com/webs/topics/f...
The Classic Editor is being removed from new sites because it is no longer supported by new apps and features and can cause incompatibility issues when editing using it. I understand that you very strongly prefer editing with it, and it will not be removed from sites that you have currently created using it.
Thank you kindly for your longstanding support and use of Webs! We highly value this and any other suggestions that you may have for how we can improve! -

Classic Editor is far better than the new builder. I've built lots of sites on webs and now going to build new one elsewhere because the classic site builder is no longer available. Crazy Crazy webs decision??? If you can use it on old site, MAKE IT AVAILABLE FOR NEW ONES ALSO!!
-

Unless you get the new builder as stable as the classic builder, dont even think that we would continue to use webs with this stupid new builder that is always ready to crash
-
-
Agreed,
I just went on to a friends new site to help him get started and I had my first taste of the new builder, it is awful, it is buggy beyond belief, why oh why don't webs do an emulation of the classic builder that encompasses the new apps etc, it shouldn't be that hard if they know a bit about coding. That is what we pay for is it not?
one very frustrated guy! -

I want the old site builder back, the new one doesn't have as many features. I miss the old ShoutBoxes and the old templates were alot better too!
For now I'm just going to go to Wetpaint Centeral.... Please make it an option to either to use the Classic or New, I really liked Webs before... -
-
I agree totally, by all means have the new version for people who only want a simple approach but please keep the older version availabale for others who want that bit more than a dumbed down website
-
-
The new site builder gives me trouble as well, I wish that they would change it back! The new one is stupid.

Webs.com, you serious need to reconsider your decision. GIVE US CHOICES. as a web developer who use html to enhance my website, Classic Editor is my best friend. I like the combination of drag and drop. I honestly dislike the new site builder because I dont have full control of how everything appears on my site. What happen to the day when we could edit our CSS??? come on, isnt business about the customers?

I have been using webs for a few years myself & quite frankly I am very annoyed by the new site builder... I want a chat on my site & the meebo is very complicated to use in the website the old add ons were so simple to use!! why make it complicated!?? When I am in the website builder editing & I press on the app feeds >> visit our app store... I get a white page with tons of writing ... I want the shoutbox & chat widgets back!! I am very disappointed & strongly considering changing to other free website builder companies

I agree you cant get games and stuff on the new one and there arent as many stuff

Please contact Sitebuilder 3 support by clicking the "?" button next to the Publish button in the editor, or at http://help.webs.com. Thanks!

Yeah, thats useless, I've tried that several times with no success. I've found the answer to my problem now. It seems Freewebs only allows for 5 pages, yet the message I get in Sitebuilder Three is that Freewebs allows ten pages. They can't even deliver the right information. I'm going to open a facebook page for my friend so she can supply all the info she wants.

We are not planning to remove features from the classic editor. However, the editor has been deprecated and we are no longer maintaining it.
-
-
I dont want you to maintain it.. I just want you to still offer it as a choice!

Ok.. So I get that the new apps don't work with the old editor.. fine (though that seems odd since I don't see anything 'new' about the new apps.. they look just like the old ones.. but that aside..WHY does that mean that you cannot still offer the option of using the old editor when creating a new site?.. I still use the old editor on a site I made before the change.. so I know it still exists.. why force your existing customers to have to conform to this new site editor (which I stated above in my opinion is garbage)...
I pay you every month as a paying customer.. and this is the thanks I get?- view 3 more comments

This is one of the reason why I choose to write my website from scratch and tweaking codes then upload it to 000webhost because I have total control over it, php, html, js, css, you name it you have the control. Webs.com refuse to offers such thing

Sites that are currently using the classic editor may continue to do so. However, the classic editor is no longer supported and any issues that may occur with the editor will not be resolved.

Fine!!!! great!!!.. we don't care.. as long as we HAVE THE CHOICE of still using it for creating new sites.. THAT'S ALL WE Want... we don't need your support.. or for you to do anything to it..because it was FINE to begin with.. thus the new editor was not WANTED, REQUIRED, OR NEEDED.. just rammed down our throats against our will. This is the issue being put forth on this thread.. No one is asking you to continue supporting it.. But you know what.. Microsoft doesnt support WINXP anymore.. BUT I CAN STILL FREAKIN INSTALL IT IF I CHOOSE... get it?????

I think it sucks that Classic Editor is no longer supported. New Sitebuilder, less pages guys and gals. I just updated my friends site for her and guess what......yep I'm only allowed 5 pages now. I think its best if we abandon Freewebs and go with Facebook instead.
