FAQ. Site down? Can't find your site? Read this first!

There are a number of reasons why a site won't show up.

1. Make sure you're looking for it in the correct place.

Clicking on a link? The link may be incorrectly formatted. Try typing your address in the URL bar of your browser instead.

Using a search window or search bar?

If you are trying to find your site in a search engine, take a look here:

Do you have a domain name?

Domain Changes

If you have a domain name, it could be the cause of the problem. In that case, please take a look through this topic first:

Domain name and site not appearing

ISP, Network, and Country blockages

ISP Blocks

It can sometimes happen that an ISP blocks access to our IP address. This can be very frustrating. Make sure to read this topic if you suspect your ISP may be blocking your site, or if none of the other possibilities apply.

Inactive Site Deletion

If you cannot view your pages OR log into your account to edit it, it may have been deleted due to inactivity.

This can happen if you have a free account and have not accessed it within the last 60 days. If this is the case, you may create a new Webs account. Unfortunately, the pages and files cannot be restored. In the future, make sure to log into your account at least once every 60 days. Premium accounts are not subject to inactive site deletion, so you may want to get a premium service on the account in order to prevent this problem in the future.

Home Page Not Set

It can sometimes happen that a site will show up but just not at the home page, as there is not a home page set. To check to see if this is your problem, log into your account and in the "edit my site" section, click on the "switch homepage" option. Select a home page there, then publish your pages again.

HTML Mode Users

If you are in HTML mode and you can't find your site, make sure you have a page named index.html - don't use index.htm as this can cause some problems if you ever are switched back to site builder mode.

Some Quick Solutions

It could be that you changed the name of your page without updating the navbar links or you experienced a temporary problem when accessing your site earlier.

Generally, republishing your pages and clearing your browser cache will resolve these problems.

Edit your home page, click to publish the page, then click to publish ALL pages.

Then clear your browser cache. Instructions for that are here:
http://www.wikihow.com/Clear-Your-Bro...

If these actions don't resolve your problem, please let us know the address of the page that is not showing up and exactly what you are seeing.

If the problem is somewhat different - the page shows up but doesn't look right, for instance, or you can't access the site builder - do NOT post in this topic. Create a new topic, as the problem is a different problem altogether!

Doesn't answer the problem? Post the question, but include this information:

1. The site address.
2. How you are trying to see the site.
3. What exactly you see.
4. What browser you are using.
5. What your ISP is and what country you are in.

The more details you can provide to us about the problem, what you did before it occurred, and what you have tried to do to fix it, the better we can assist you.
