FAQ- Noticed A Change to the "Categories" Section within the Links App.? Read First! Links-44

What's New?

We've recently updated a section of our SiteBuilder and we'd like to provide you all with some additional info about the change. :-)

Our Links Application has been enhanced to provide an easier method of searching links on your page. This particular change was specifically inspired by users that heavily depend upon the Links Application to source their visitors to particular sites.

The Category Options now appear directly above the Links displayed within the application.

  • Your Links Application should now resemble the following:

How It Works

Your Custom Links Categories can now be accessed via the Categories section at the top of your "Links" page.

They act as an anchor to redirect visitors to the category of links they desire to see rather, than scrolling through pages of content to find what they're looking for (the previous way of doing so).

What Do YOU Think About the Change?

We're always looking for ways to enhance areas of our SiteBuilder. While doing so, we are mindful that our users may not always be accepting of those changes. We love to hear feedback on those changes/updates so that we can continue providing you all with the best Site Building experience possible!

After noting the change, feel free to provide us with some FEEDBACK on the change here.

Tell Us...

  • Do you like the new layout within the Links Application? If so, tell us what you like.

  • If not, tell us what don't you like about the change. (Inconsistency, irrelevance, appearance, etc.

  • Tell what you would like to see within the Categories section of the Links App.

Other related comments? No problem! You can add those here too! :-)

Thanks Guys!

  • I've already been complaining :) Here:

    But I'll repost.

I suppose the categories box would be useful to some people, but the box on my page is gigantic and looks amateurish:

Why does it need to be so big, especially the word "Categories?"

Also, all of the colors on my links page have changed to an awful color scheme. Why couldn't they have been left the way they were? And the thumbnails now look all faded. I loved the links page before, and find this change upsetting.

    • Hi Laurjen!

Thank you for this feedback. We have opened an enhancement request with our engineers to get this changed so that it more so resembles our other applications. We'll provide updates as more insight is provided. Thanks for letting us know what you think! :-)

    • Thanks Dom! I looked for a cached version so I could compare, but didn't find one. The old version had more colors and I think maybe the thumbnails were outlined in black? I can't remember exactly, but I know the page was much more vibrant.

  • I’m aaallll shook up
Today I noticed that my "Links" page looked different. A "Categories" box is on top and in a color that looks terrible on my template. Also, the font colors for my categories have changed and are now underlined. My Links page looks just awful and it took me years to get it to where it was. What the heck happened?

    My Links Page Went Kerflooey.

    • I posted this 23 hours ago on a thread I opened. You can tinker with Webs apps but you MAY NOT tinker with me. Few people will know that you "merged" my original thread with your post to make it look like you're on top of the situation and I'm some stupid fool. How dare you. This forum is a Webs contraption, not an open forum for ideas or to report problems. You've got a lot of nerve.

  • What about giving the site owner the option of turning categories on or off? I don't particularly want that on my page, while I'm sure other people are jumping for joy :) The thing I hope you'll consider about enhancements is that they don't work for everyone's site.

  • I’m ticked off.
Dom, I never replied to your post. I opened a thread (the first) on this topic. Then laurjen1 replied to me on that thread and I replied back, etc.. Posting my so-called "reply" to your edited post makes it look like I'm not with it and that I'm replying unnecessarily to you edited explanation of what happened with the links app. Now it's in Google Search results.

I'm done using this forum if you're going to take my comments and post them out of context. Do what you want with the Links Apps. I'll make my own links page and stay out of your hair.
    • Hi Michael, under your post it says "merged topic" so everyone knows it was merged here from somewhere else, and that you weren't making an odd response to this topic. No worries, really :) Dom was inviting you to post additional comments if you have any, is all.
    • Hi Michael,

You are correct in stating that I merged your topic into this one. However you are not correct in assumption that this was done simply to "hide" your previous comments/replies. As Laurjen1 stated, I was inviting you to continue with any additional comments here. I apologize if I failed to state that clearly within this topic. I merged your topic here so we could continue to hear from each individual on this issue and each individual could be heard. If you note, your merged post is visible. This was done so by myself purposely to make sure that you were heard.

Just for clarification, we are currently discussing the changes that were recently implemented. We have plans to enhance our Links App. to include the suggestions provided here as well as a few other options. We'll post the final changes once they have gone live.

We invite you to continue to express yourself about the change. As stated, we're always open to hearing from our users. If any further explanation is needed, please do not hesitate to ask questions. Thank you!

  • I’m far too busy for all this
I don't recognise any of this. The only change I can see on my site www.delectusarts.com is that the thumbnail previews no longer work so all you see is the HTML code, which looks utterly dreadful
