Pictures in forums are not handled well. Not everybody has a photobucket/whatever account, or wants one; so they should be able to upload pics straight off their own computer. They should be automatically re-sized in the process.
For linking to images, currently a forum post will distort the image if it is too large. The best option is a thumbnail (which allows the page to load quickly, and a viewer to see whether or not they're interested in the pic), and then a click-through that has the full-size image open in a new window.

But then the Photo Gallery function works properly; why not the forum too?

Hi I would like to share an idea for Webs to implement. Is it possible you can give "Moderators" the ability to upload "photos" to a folder on the website (that we designate). This would make it a lot easier for people that do not have HTML skills!!! I want my Moderators to be able to maintain the blog with the latest news (without having any admin access to change the website)... however the feature for adding photos for Moderators is to add the Script or URL code to the blog... Why can't they just have the ability to upload "direct" to the website (like you do if your an admin)...... At the moment, they would then have to add photos to a 3rd party site...get the code.....then put it on....and a lot of them do not have good computer skills. This defeats the purpose then of the moderator posting the latest news if they have to wait for Admin all the time to put photos on. I want people to be able to update the blog on the website, with the "photo feature" fixed so they can upload photos.... without giving them "admin control".

I know your not a website builder but you should realize its a hassle when you want to insert an image to a discussion forum thread and it asks for url which you have to copy and paste. No one is going to exit out of their post they were creating just to look for a url of an image. They are likely going to lose all the info they created.
Sure they can post and save it but thats posting an incomplete post in a thread and no one wants to go looking for a url link to an image even if they going to use a link of an image uploaded in gallery.
You have to exit the forum/blog and go into gallery just to get the url than exit gallery and into forum/blog. Now thats just a hassel. Somehow only site owners while they are logged into their website thru webs.com can upload images from their computer but a member of that site canno't but has to insert a url link.
Even owners if they log in into websites without going into the main webs.com login forum can't upload image into the discussion forum/blog forum.
Geez, is this something done intentionally or an bug/error on webs.com part. Whats so hard for a website builder to add an upload feature to the posting threads in the discussion/blog forums. Its not hard but easy for them to add this feature since they are experts and seem to have intentionally no included this for members but only site owners.
Its just an upload feature it won't do no harm to people.
Please know the difference between a discussion forum/blog forum and a image gallery if you don't know research. Cause you staff here I think don't know much about websites and how they work.

Whats up with this. You should tell your website engineers/creators to fix such changes. Its easy for them so I don't see why such an issue can't be fixed. All they have to do is enter some codes and a function is added to webs.com websites.
Its not difficult rocket science.
It looks like they don't feel like it or somehow the info is not getting to them. I think the issue aren't addressed to them maybe you should have a head website engineer read these ideas/look through these ideas. -

I believe that the idea for our members to be able to post pics in the forums would be good

I've just set up a Webs forum to replace my old Nabble embedded forum. I'm shocked to find members cannot upload their own photos to the forum

My members want to be able to upload their pics from iPads . Me too when I am not able to get my PC .
I use the photobucket app' can copy the correct link, but once in the forum post it simply will not 'paste' . Using the same code on a PC and it works?
With more and more folks turning to iPads, this really needs addressing. Even the add image 'button' on here will not work from my iPad ?
Thanks. -

Topic is more then a year old...
Any progress??? -

It's a shame that something so simple cannot be remedied within a year. The upload button is there but doesn't even work for me.
I'm paying for my site. Why doesn't this feature work and work well? -
-
When will this be implemented Webs? We're a decade behind the times here. Time to catch up.

I agree this is SOO frustrating.Other Hosts have this ability,so it must not be too hard to implement. PLEASE WEBS.COM ....you try and use a site where your images in a forum have to be links. Not Professional at all.

Well as I reloaded the page after adding my twitter act, It loaded my profile pic which I guess is ok. I don't really mind people seeing my identity. But for real, what about those who don't want their personal pic to be shown on forums? Plz tell me what I'm doing wrong. Thnx.
