Let non-members post in forums
I want people who are not members to be able to post under the forums section. They cannot become members because they don't have an email account yet. What can I do to change the permissions so that non-members can post in the forums? Please help!

Hello!
I apologize for the inconvenience, but it is not possible to allow non-members to post in the Forums app. The membership requirement is in place to allow you to moderate users and to help prevent spam. -

We should be given the option to allow this. Blocking spammers should be our own issue. We don't need webs to protect us from the big bad internet. It would be really great if people could chat in the forum app without having to become a webs.com member

I disagree. if this were to happen, spammers would have no block to stop them from ruining a website with unrelated material. You should listen to Eric, he knows what he's talking about.

I will admit I do not know a ton about creating a website, but I have learned a little. Surely there is a way to allow people who are not members to comment on a blog or forum without allowing them to make original posts or change any detail to what someone else has done. Merely post a comment which the site owner can choose to delete or leave. To me it kind of sounds like your 'limited member' only they wouldn't have to create an account with your website. I am sure I would get more feedback if this was the case.

I would love to see a feature like this added to webs.com! I have a website created for a game development studio. But I have the website setup so only team members of the studio can become members of the website. This allows all of our vistors on the webpage to meet the members of the team with the profile pages. But we also need input from these vistors as well! I don't care if its through the forums or another page just for comments sakes. But like I said I would love to see a feature like this one day!

I think we need the best of both worlds...
Allow anyone (non members) to view the forums, but NEITHER post nor respond to topics.
Permit Members ONLY to post new topics.
Permit Limited Members ONLY the permission to respond to an existing topic, but NOT to post NEW topics.
This would work to allow EVERYONE to see what they're missing thereby enticing interest; Limited Members (non-paying) some degree of participation in the topic: and Full Members the exclusive permission to start new threads. -
