This page is frozen
We are sorry, this site is unavailable because it has used up its monthly bandwidth
That means your site is frozen for exceeding your bandwidth.
If your pages are just not coming up, or they are blank (all white) or the template is not showing up, or another problem, that is not due to bandwidth overage. In that case, create a new topic about your issue so we can answer your questions.
What is bandwidth?
Bandwidth is not the same thing as webspace. Webspace is the total amount of space you can use on our servers to store your images, videos, music, and other files. You are permitted a certain amount of webspace and this does not reset every month. It's like renting a storage facility - you rent a certain amount of space, put your stuff in it, and it sits there until you move it out.
Bandwidth, on the other hand, refers to the number of times files are downloaded from your site in a month. This number is reset every month.
If you have 10 images in your gallery, and each image is 1 Mb in size, when a visitor views your gallery, they use 10 Mb of bandwidth to view those 10 images.
If you have 10 visitors to that gallery, they will use 100 Mb to view those images.
If you have 100 visitors to the gallery, they use 1,000 Mb, or approximately 1 Gb to view those images.
You can see your bandwidth usage in the Site Settings area of your account.
What can I do if my site is frozen for exceeding bandwidth?
There are a few options.
In the picture above, you can see the amount of bandwidth used, the date the bandwidth will reset, and the upgrade button.
1. You can wait until the bandwidth resets.
2. You can increase your bandwidth.
If you want to unfreeze your site now, you will need to increase your bandwidth.
-You can purchase a premium package with more bandwidth.
This is the easiest and fastest way to unfreeze your site if it's frozen due to exceeding bandwidth.
In the Premium section of your account, you can see the different packages. If you look at how much bandwidth you have already used this month, and how far into the month your site was frozen, you can probably estimate how much bandwidth you need currently. Keep in mind that as your site gets more popular, with repeat visitors, you may need more bandwidth in the future.
You may wish to go with the Pro package with bandwidth protection, if your site is likely to need a lot of bandwidth every month. That provides 200 Gb of bandwidth per month.
- You can purchase bandwidth in the credit shop, as an individual item.
In Site Settings, look on the right side of the page to find the Webs Credits information. Click on the Learn More link.
You can purchase bandwidth on this page, or you can take part in the offers there and earn credits to spend in the credit shop.
First, purchase the credits, then spend them on the bandwidth option you want.
How can I prevent going over my bandwidth allowance in the future?
You may wish to reduce the files you are offering to prevent this problem in the future.
If you have large images in your file manager than you resize when you place in your pages, you might want to simply edit those images and make them smaller. This will reduce the file size and reduce the bandwidth used for them.
Removing music from the home page can greatly reduce your bandwidth usage, as can simply reducing the number of images on the home page.
