Site Owner No Longer Receiving Member Activity Notifications? Read First! SUPPORT-33

Hey Guys,

Recently, Site owners were reporting that they do not receive notifications regarding member activity notifications. This is not to be confused with Members not receiving Notifications based on their individual preferences.

We are discussing notifications as a whole in this topic


We have decided to simplify the Site Owner Notification system so that there's less confusion on these notifications. If you are a Site Owner, and you're not receiving an email notification after a blog comment, a new private message notification , etc., please DO NOT BE ALARMED. Once again, this was done intentionally to lessen the complication of our Notification System.

Because you are a member of your own site, you will still receive notifications as a member. However you will no longer receive Daily and Weekly Site Digests.


You'll notice that the Email Notification Preferences within the Website Settings Section your account has changed. Some options are no longer available as they've been depreciated for reasons based on simplicity and ease of usage.

1. Log into www.webs.com
2. Click "Edit this Site"
3. Click on the "Control Panel" icon
4. Click "Website Settings"
5. Scroll down and view your Email Notification Preferences located within the Sidebar.

What happens now? You Ask?


You simply need to set your preferences via your Member Profile page which is easy and convenient.

1. Log into the site (as a member) via the homepage.
2. Click on the "Edit Profile" link
3. Click on the "Notification Preferences" tab
4. Adjust your settings and insure that everything has been set to your liking.

OR

1. Log into www.webs.com
2. Click "Edit this Site"
3. Click on the Members Application
4. Click on your profile name
5. Click on the "Notification Preferences" tab
6. Adjust your settings there.

Again, you will STILL receive notifications as a member so you do not have to worry about missing out on any member updates! :-)

  • Hi Dom,

    I have only sporadically been getting notifications when I have members awaiting approval. Sometimes I'll get a notification about one new member, but when I go to look, there will be other members waiting, from previous days. Other times I get no emails at all. If it helps any, sometimes the emails say, "New Site Member Requesting Access" and other times they say, "You Have a New Site Member." I manually approve all members, so the latter message isn't quite correct.

    Here are my preferences:



    The same thing happens with guestbook comment notifications. I only get notified on occasion.

    I've just changed our site's member settings to enable...

    "Automated notifications > Notify members of new content based on their email settings"

    My personal notifications are all set to "Immediate".

    I then added a new blog entry to test the new setting and have not yet received an email notifying me of the new content. We've been receiving notifications of comments made to blog entries just fine but this was the first time we've tried getting notifications for content changes.

    Seems this has a been an ongoing problem? Is there an imminent fix?

    In addition to not getting notices about new members, I am no longer receiving notifications of blog comments, or receiving my own email blasts. Form responses seem to be working fine. My notification preferences haven't changed. Thanks!

    here I am again. My settings are as stated notifications are as below. I have made a notice of this and again and again as normally happens with webs.com I am forwarded from topic to topic, without solutions given. Or solutions are given which still do not work. Now this topic mentions:

    Well fine for you, but if some-one is offering Viagra or is spamming my web-site in another way I will not get notified at all. Then my site is filled with SPAM without I am beware of it. My settings are as stated below. This seems to be done correct, but still I do not get any notifications. They just stopped coming one day.



    Can WEBS come up finally with solutions for these kind of issues in stead of telling us not to worry.

    I want to have my activity notifications back, right away. I have paid for the service.I do not want people to be able to spam my web site without getting notified for it. Because then I am not able to clean it.

    Please give us some assistance.

    Once again I am getting more frustrated every day from using webs.com I was a happy user for 6 years, but lately I start to loose confidence completely.

    You have such a beautiful site building program, I was able to make a professional web-page in only one weekend, but the service which is given at this moment is absolutely worthless. No solutions is given at all.

    It's getting worse Dom - I think you've overshot the mark.

    I just discovered, to my annoyance, that I have members queued up waiting for approval - and I had no knowledge they were there. So, logged in as Site Owner, I go to my notification preferences to find out what happened - and very disappointingly, I find we're now down to just one possible notification - which is probably the most useless one.

    Correct me if I'm wrong - but I don't believe site owners were complaining about the notifications they were receiving? back when we had them all; and if it ain't broke, don't fix it. Please give us our notifications back.

      I didn't get a chance to post this last night but I discovered the second notifications box in the Site Builder section, which was correctly tagged to advise of new members - and that has happened since - so the earlier lack of notification was an aberration, or maybe happened during your changeover period. As a premium member though, it would be good to have more options - e.g. being made aware of potentially spamming forum posts.

    I don not know anymore what to think about webs.com. Again I have to say you guys have a wonderfull tool to build web pages in an easy and quick way. However lately I face to many problems with my web pages. Try to stabalize before you put all kind of new not working apps. I think the strong thing about Webs was that is was so easy and simple tu use. Now it seems to get to complicated and thinks are not working at all. My advise keep it easy and simple and focus on that.

    Even if the settings of notifications are correct tagged, they just don't work. That is the most frustrating of all.

    I am getting more frustrated every day. May be below is an opportunaty for you to get poeple more satisfied, by having a tag to be able to tag that you want to have proper support form webs.com.

    I have already tagged it as you are able to see, so please give me some proper suport, May be this helps.

      Are you having an issue with receiving New Site Member and Guestbook Signature Notifications? These are the only two types of notifications that you should be receiving as the site owner. In addition, you should be receiving notifications when members post content to your site. Please specify your issue so that we can troubleshoot further. Also, please provide us with your Site URL. Thank you!

      I do not receive any notifications. I see that I have new site members, but I did not recieve any notifications for that. Also for guest book signatures no notifications are send to my address. Again the site URL's are:

      www.car-brochures.eu
      www.austin-eight.com
      www.mg-td.com

      The last notification I received was 27 January 2011, then it stopped. All members and signatures after Januaru 27 have not been notified to my address. I hope this helps.

  • I’m concerned.I'd like to know that Im communicating with my members
    I am not recieving email blasts, or notification of member comments,need for approval for postings to the site, or of personal notes being left in my inbox. Everythng was fine until last week. My settings and preferrences are as you suggested. I have gone to the website and made the changes you requested. Also, approximately 5 of my members are not getting email blasts or notices.

    Dom, you say to let you know if we AREN'T receiving notifications for blog comments -- well, I'm not, haven't for a long time. I have to manually check on my blog several times a day to see if there are comments.

  • Why do I only see email notifications for two things:

    New Guestbook Signature
    New Site Member

    I don't even have a guestbook on my website ! :s .. i do see notifications when a new member registered at my website (ahhh.. feelings of joy :) )

    BUT ..I also would like to receive a message every time a new post or reply is posted into the forum as I need to manage to control every post and make sure I didn't miss any posts in case a member doesn't follow my rules (be polite etc...)

    I do appreciate that you guys have considered us Site Owners and thought to try and make things easier. It is appreciated, If we could find a resolution in addressing the new dilemma that has risen. It seems that I am not receiving any notifications about any activity on my sites. I understand that the settings that have been set are to help simplify things, however it appears that there may be an issue with the notifications working. How can we improve this? is there a "General" and "Advanced" tab that can be created in the notifications toolbar for site owners who are familiar and for those who unfamiliar on how to manage a website? I really would like to keep a close eye on what occurs on my websites, in a way that is more advanced than what is currently set in place. My websites are youthmissionoutreach.org and inchristunitedchurch.org.

    Due to how busy I am off the computer, it would be helpful to get more efficient e-mail notifications that would let me know what is going on as events occur on the site. I do not mind the complicated notification that was in place before, is it possible to keep both styles to accommodate both veteran and new site owners? If you may get back to me as soon as you can, that would be helpful. I understand that you are very busy have a lot in your workload, however if you would be able to send a rapid response it would also be greatly appreciated.
