  • Hi,

Thanks for posting the error info.
There should be more information within the InnerException that should be valuable and help pin-point the exact issue, could you post that as well?

    Thanks!

  • Hi Patrick, thank you for your reply!

hmm, yeah, there's another tab, "exception". Some of the information seems to be the same, but i'll post it all here anyway, just to be sure. Let me know if there's something else you need!

  • Hi, NP.

    Thanks for posting the info.

There's still some info missing but it might be unavailable due to a limitation in the error handling system, but the error leading up to this seems to be "The specified module could not be found. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x8007007E)"

Usually this means either the Play withSIX installation is corrupt (e.g missing files), or the .NET Framework installation is corrupt, or a windows component.

You could try uninstalling and reinstalling Play withSIX, if that doesn't help, try reinstalling the .NET framework 4.0; http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/downlo...
If that doesn't help, you can run from an "Run as Administrator" started Command Prompt:
    sfc /scannow

to check and repair corrupted/missing files.

  • Hi again Patrick,

i re-installed PlayWithSix, and ran a repair on .NET 4, and none of that helped. I'm now running a system scan, as you suggested.

Regarding the missing info, is there a log file somewhere? The information i pasted above came from a dialogue box that opened when the program crashed.

Also, i noticed the program folder contains some Ruby files. I have Ruby installed on my computer, and have a few applications/gems installed, like Compass and Sass, can there be some sort of conflict there? This is only a long shot, since i'm really clueless about Ruby otherwise. But it just came to my mind when i was checking the PWS application folder.

  • And Sys scan didn't report any errors. The scan just finished.

  • Ah a fellow Rubyist!

Strange, local ruby files should not interfeir.

I am currently in the process of enhancing the error logging so that we can hopefully get the full specific error message, ETA 30 mins.

  • Yeah, i agree, i don't think it has anything to do with it. It must be something else.

Ok, that sounds great, let me know when you're ready and i'll download and run it again. Hopefully that will give you some more info!

    Cheers!

  • The new build is up. Since auto-update probably fails because of the error, you might need to redownload+reinstall the software.

Since the CDN might need some time to sync up, please try downloading from our backup: http://play.withsix.com/downloads/4c8...

When the issue occurs again, after closing the exception dialog, please find the "Play withSIX.log" file over at C:\users\username\appdata\roaming\Play withSIX
and upload it somewhere to link it here, or extract the error information from the bottom of the log file.

    Cheers!

  • I've deployed .62 update to address the issue, the same update procedure applies as before.

This should tackle the crash, but there is an underlying issue that leads up to this problem.

It appears to be related to some Windows Update, that causes the underlying issue on some systems: http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Foru...

  • Now it works! Great, thank you so much!

I'm also having problems with the installation of ArmA II, so now i have to get back to that. The setup just stops at the end, trying to copy unistall.csv. I bought the game from gamespy, so their client (which is a beta and seems really buggy) is supposed to download and install the game client. But that doesn't work either, after download i have to go through explorer and start the installation manually.

Bohemia support has replied (asking me to re-download the game, which didn't help), but gamespy seems to be off for the weekend...

So much trouble for a game :P

But now this works, so one step ahead. So thanks again for the fast reply and help! That's support done right! :)
