Abandoned Zoo in Armenia

I have contacted the Armenian branch but wanted to bring it to your attention as well. I have just read a sad article about an abandoned zoo. The local authorities have no interest and as the owner has abandoned them can they not be taken and relocated to a caring place of safety. I fear these gorgeous animals will not survive the winter.

  • I read the article too. If the Armenian branch plans to take action, I'll be the first to make a donation. Just let us know!

  • Thank you for contacting us about cruelty to animals.
The focus of WWF's work is on environmental and species conservation and not on campaign issues related to cruelty towards animals. We suggest you contact organizations which are specifically working on these issues. These include:

International Fund for Animal Welfare (IFAW) - www.ifaw.org

World Society for the Protection of Animals (WSPA) -http://www.worldanimalprotection.org/

You could also contact your local WWF office and they may be able to provide more information about other local organizations who may be able to help. Their contact details (along with website URLs) of all our offices around the world are available at:
    www.wwf.org

The contact details of our WWF-Armenia Office can be found at

As your issue concerns a zoo – you may wish to contact a UK based organization called "Born Free Foundation" http://www.bornfree.org.uk/index.shtml

    All the best
