I’m confused

Elephant Breeding Center, Chitwan, Nepal

I have been a long time supporter of WWF and was therefore all the more appalled to see its logo and name associated (on a large sign) with the Elephant Breeding Center at Chitwan National Park, Nepal. Certainly this organization would not want to support activities that are very clearly detrimental to wildlife conservation as well as ethically wrong. I was having difficulty finding a contact to send my recent research paper to so I thought I may get some feedback through this problem board. I felt this was an international issue as the WWF Nepal had a representative giving us a tour of said facility and proudly discussing its "success" (read: commercial success). If you are interested in more information on the subject, I would be happy to discuss.

    Hi Jacqueline,

Thank you for your message, we certainly appreciate your concern.

One of the 'successes' that the WWF representative may have been referring to, is that for the year ending Feb 2014, there was ZERO poaching of elephants (as well as tigers and rhinos) in Nepal! Which is great news for decimated elephant populations in the region.

I have pasted a page below which contains a link to the Senior Communications Officer at WWF-Nepal, Simrika Sharma. I am sure they will be more than happy to answer any further questions:

I hope this helps and wish you all the best,
