I’m sad

Helping Surabaya Zoo

Hello... I am Litha from Surabaya, Indonesia..
Sorry for my bad Enghlish...

this is my city problem.. we have a zoo called "Kebun Binatang Surabaya" or "Surabaya Zoo"
a lot of problems that occur in this zoo. ranging from the consumption of tiger meat for sale, animals are stressed due to conditions that are not habitable enclosures, found a lot of plastic in the stomachs of dead animals.
many animals are stressed because the cage is not placed accordingly. Now new problems arise. governor's proposal received an investor who wants to make the region become the zoo's commercial district. Surabaya mayor was trying to fight for the function of the zoo, but the governor and minister of forestry more support the investor.

a tiger named melani has a thin body, like a cat dehydration. Here we would like to ask for help and support from WWF Indonesia International, so the zoo area remains as an icon of the city of Surabaya.

this is the link about Surabaya Zoo:

. I was about to put the problem regarding this female tiger, Melani in this forum, to get the attention from WWF. Those animal are suffering, please help into this matter. As for me, Im more concern about the well being of the animals. They need a proper care and good nutrition and also good management. The people who taking care of the zoo, should have the sense of loving for the animals.

Please Sir, if you can do something regarding this matter, it will be highly appreciated. Please help us to save these animals in this pathetic zoo.

    Best regard,

    Lisa Puspita

    Hi Talitha and Lisa,
Thank you for contacting us, we appreciate your concern regarding this distressing issue.

WWF works with conserving ecosystems and protecting species in the wild; so when it comes to animal cruelty issues we refer to those organisations which specifically target cruelty to animals.

    These include:
International Fund for Animal Welfare (IFAW) - www.ifaw.org
World Society for the Protection of Animals (WSPA) - http://www.wspa.org.au/
The Born Free Foundation in the UK welcomes all reports of animal
suffering for captive wild animals including zoos: http://www.bornfree.org.uk/

Our WWF Indonesia office may be able to provide further information. Their contact details are found at wwf.org

Thanks again and I hope this helps,
    Mim
