Including demographic inputs in projects

The idea of structuring communities capacity as far as forest areas are managed is quite beautiful. It would be advisable to include demographic studies prior to implementation of such projects. In this way, it is possible to capture the real architecture of the local population in terms of sex distribution, age patterns, socioeconomic status and cultural factors. Such background information will enable stakeholders to fine tuned their policies. The Demography Research and Training Institute (IFORD) in Yaoundé (Cameroon) has accumulated expertise in this respect.
