Thanks for the input.
I guess you are talking about the ad that is currently running in the US?
Scientifically you are perfectly correct, the polar bear is not strictly classified as "Endangered".
According to the Red List it is "Vulnerable" (one level below "Endangered"):
But for the US Government it is listed under its "Endangered Species Act" :

And not many people would disagree that that polar bear is in danger.
And if something is in danger then the word to describe that simply, quickly, and without fuss, to a mass audience, without delving into the intricacies of various and multiple classification systems would be "endangered"?
Though of course we do fully appreciate your opinion on this.
And as mentioned, scientifically, you are perfectly correct... at least in the first part of your comment :-)
I'm appalled by your distortion of the truth about the Polar Bears. I was watching History Channel and saw your very erroneous commercial praying on peoples love for a beautiful animal to enlist funds for your work. The Polar Bear is not on the brink of extinction and you know it! In fact it's numbers are thriving! To show a mother bear diving in the water and suggest she is leaving it's young because she cannot feed it is just downright dirty and sad. You and anyone who knows about polar bears knows that they regularly swim dozens and dozens of miles without stopping. In fact they've been spotted nearly 50 miles off shore swimming many times and it's not because they're at a loss for land or food. This is a normal travel for these vibrant swimmers and their young.
Let's face it. Your attempt at eliciting funds based on false data and flawed computer models is nearing it's end. And thankfully not a minute too soon!

EMPLOYEE0Thankyou for writing in to WWF International.
We are currently not running any advertising campaigns. Most of our offices around the world are managed independently, so I assume that your national WWF office has organised these ads.
You are welcome to get in touch directly with your local office. Their contact details are listed here:
They are running these disgusting ads in England right now. Images of ice shelfs falling into the sea. Some viewers will fall for their lies this is global warming killing the bears & their habits. Actually it happens every year. The ice freezes again. Then melts. And falls. Has been for centuries. So?
Their commercial has been condemned internationally since 2009 but they don't care. They need funds to pay all their staff.
I am reporting them to the Advertising Standards Agency. I suggest you all do too.
They are self creating an appalling reputation of extorting money through blatant misrepresentation.
