Ever since I upgraded my Mac to OS X Yosemite my Eye-Fi Pro X2 does not work from the card reader. It doesn't mount (no disk is created on the deskop), and it's not listed in diskutils -l. This also means my X2 card is not recognized by Eye-Fi Center.
My photos still transfer via Wifi with the card in my camera and I can still take pictures with the card. I can mount the X2 card on windows and ubuntu without any problem. I can mount normal SD cards on my mac without any issue.
What's wrong and how can I fix this?

I used the card reader built into my mac laptop and also a usb SD Card reader. Normal SD cards works just fine but my eyefi card is not recognized with either reader.

have you still got the supplied eyefi card reader? did you try your usb lead between the camera and pc? the only time i have seen this issue is when using an incompatible card reader the lead between the camera and pc will generally always work, to shed some light on this eyefi cards although compliant with specifications set out by the sd card association do require more power than regular sd cards due to the micro processor and wifi adapter built into the card and some card readers just do not supply the eyefi card with enough electricity to correctly initialise it even though if they were compliant they should the supplied eyefi card reader is designed to correctly supply the eyefi card with enough electricity to operate the card correctly obviously this is why the lead between camera and pc always works. seems odd that it still works on windows and linux is this with the eyefi card reader? or a generic card reader? is it the same card reader each time in both the mac and the windows pc or are you talking about the inbuilt reader on the mac? i have seen issues with some mac built in card readers.

I found and tried the original card reader just now. The red light flashes for quite some time before stopping. The card is still not recognized by OS X Yosemite. The card can still be read from other machines that use Windows or Ubuntu and it is also still useable with my Canon Camera.
Before the Yosemite update there were no problems reading the card from my Mac.

did you try the usb lead between your camera with eyefi card in its slot and the mac (not as a long term solution just to rule out incompatible card readers)? we can always get eyefi to send you a new card reader if that's the problem.

Actually, I got the sdcard to show up on my Mac's Disk Utility application. I had to put the Eyefi card reader on the other usb port for some reason.
However my mac says the card is not initialized. I tried to format the card using Disk Utility and MS FAT as the file system but get an error of:
"Disk Erase failed with the error: Unable to write to the last block of the device"
I can format the card in my Canon camera without any issues though.

Anyone from Eyefi even paying attention to these issues? Pretty frustrating when stuff just stops working

the x2 cards have not been sold by eyefi for nearly 2 years now, i know you can still buy them via 3rd parties like ebay and amazon. but they are considered EOL now and are no longer supported, it's incredibly unlikely you will see any updates to the software or firmware.
that being said generally speaking eyefi cards wont work in some card readers your best bet is to ensure you use the supplied eyefi card reader and format the card with the sd card association formatter this ensure there are no obscure partitions or formats used on the sd card. https://www.sdcard.org/downloads/formatter_4/
and a little further digging suggests this may be a yosemite issue and not an eyefi issue

Hi Alan,
Yes I bought the Pro|X2 with Eye-Fi USB Card Reader in 2011 and last time I used it was in 2014 and all worked fine. EOL?
I saw there was a firmware update and did that but still no luck.
So basically this is garbage is what you are saying

nope definitely not saying its garbage i have 2 16gb pro X2's and a 4gb connect x2 that my wife uses every week on the windows platform and taking them away from her would be like taking her favorite dog away, im saying that it is unlikely there will be any updates to the software or firmware so we need to look elsewhere for a fix. EOL = End Of Life, Eyefi are focussing their efforts on supporting and improving their Mobi line.
as i suggested in my last post the problem with yosemite not being able to mount sd cards is not limited to eyefi cards i provided 3 links to people with the same problem, im not a mac guy im afraid so im not able to offer specific advice in relation to this problem but there are a number of possible solutions in the threads i linked. i would still recommend trying the sd card formatter however i notice that yosemite is not listed in compatible os's.
if you do find a fix please share your experiences with the eyefi community.
Regards,
Alan
