Will there be a support update soon to allow us to use the new Apple Photos.app since iPhoto is about to be buried?

We have no official announcement on whether we will release any update to the X2 card / Eyefi Center that would allow compatibility with Apple's Photos.app. Apple's software is still in beta so you may want to check back with us again when it officially releases.

Josh and David,

Now that Photos has been officially released, I thought it would be wise to let you and the community know that we are actively exploring how we may be able to support Apple Photos. The short story is that unlike iPhoto which made the integration easy, Photos appears to be less open which is going to make integrating more difficult. I'll be sure to share more as I know more. Until then all I can do is ask for your patience.

Any update? Losing easy synchronization with Photos has been a huge detractor from the experience.

While at it. Can you please add the _option_ to open Photos after import? This small tweak will force the photos onto our photo streams and our iCloud photo collection without leaving photos open 24/7.

Without that feature it kind of makes the eyefi persistent application (icon) pointless. Also, it would cut down on that import wait every time you open iPhoto.

So am I correct in assuming this means my card is not going bad?  Sorry, but I'm no expert--is the reason my photos won't show up in Photos because Eye-Fi x2 card is not compatible with Photos for Mac?  I have been going over every setting I have trying to come up with a solution.  I need to wait for an update? I've used this card for years and don't want to replace if I don't have to.

I have been in touch with the eyes team via twitter, and they pretty much said there won't be any update to enable auto import to the new Apple Photos, which is terrible news really.

Even though Photos is now live, and out of Beta, its still not as feature or functionality rich as iPhotos was, for example, you cannot create a new flickr photo set within Photos, and the title, and add description fails to transfer to the photos you upload to flickr, which really is a pain.

I work with photos daily, anywhere between 200 and 1000 photos a day, so as you can imagine, the lack of integration of eye auto import, and the lack of features of Apples new application make my working day that much more time-consuming, having to upload photos to my flickr photo stream, and then having to organise them within the flickr online portal.

I made a simple AppleScript that you can attach to the folder where you import photos on your computer that will automatically import photos to photos.app:

Does this work on the subfolders that eyefi seems to create for each download?

Agreed with Donny - if you expect my business, I expect you to include the most basic features of your product to all users.  When will the update happen?

"The short story is that unlike iPhoto which made the integration easy, Photos appears to be less open which is going to make integrating more difficult."

As an iOS & Mac developer myself, I'd say you should fire your dev team and hire some guys who are just able to read Apple docs...
Sry to be so harsh, but either you just lied to your customers or the one who told you those things is really incompetent.

Like iPhoto in the old days, Photos.app provides all needed functions to externally import/export/delete/duplicate photos, create albums/folders. You can even choose to not import duplicates, choose where import the media, access moments and read media meta data like location and such things.
Everything just easy through the applescript API.

Even better. Using native OS X Photos API named "Photos Framework" since 09-2014 you can do even more.

So please do your homework before and don't let down your own product AND customers. You had months of time (thats what a beta is actually for! waiting for a final release to even dig into the possibilities would be a shame for every serious developer!).

Still hoping for the best!

Hi, I found this on the web: https://photosautomation.com. It seems Apple updated Automator app on their new OS X el capitain to handle photo.app scripts. If eyefi is not updating their software it will be easier to create an automation by ourselves.

I bought my frist product from eyefi - and it looks like it will be the last one. I expected that this is a professional company that takes the users serious. "Actively exploring" for 5 months and not even a comment about the outcome? Well I hope their requirements engineering is not always like this... Very diappointed

I completely agree. I have moved on and decided not to buy another eye-fi product. Exceptionally unprofessional.

I will never buy another product from this company and I use to evangelise their products to my friends. The strategy of alienating your existing customer - some with products just one or two years old is insane. I don't know who the product manager is, but he seems to have missed this business school 101 lesson: Who are you most likely to get business / incremental revenues from? Your existing customers.
As others have pointed out the Apple-made-it-difficult story is plainly just a lie. Google: PHAssetCreationRequest
How incredibly lame.

Any updates on this? Official response from Eye-Fi? I don't use this card anymore and am deeply disappointed in this purchase.
